Dear Parishioners, Jesus before he ascended to the Father addressed his disciples, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them

to observe all that I have commanded you.” With those words Jesus invited his disciples to establish the Church. The Church had its Birthday on Pente-cost when the Holy Spirit came down on Mary and the Apostles gathered in prayer. Baptism became the rite of initiation into the Church. The Church began to grow and it continues to grow in spite of all the opposition, problems and scandals. SCRIP PROGRAM -At St. Anselm School, the Scrip program is a major fundraiser that allows us to keep our tuition costs lower than most other Catholic schools, and it is very easy to par ticipate. Scrip is available through Standing Orders, which can be given to the office. We also have inventory on hand that can be purchased from the office. Green Tip: Double-Duty Ideas- The goal is "reduce, reuse, recycle." 1. Magazines. Roll up a couple of these and stick one into each of your calf- or knee-high boots so the foot-wear will keep its shape.2. Empty paper-towel roll. Flatten and use it to sheathe a knife kept in a drawer.3. Small glass food jars. These make perfect see-through storage vessels for nails, screws, nuts, and bolts.4. Old shower curtain. Stash one in your car's trunk to line it when carting potentially messy paints or picnic and beach gear.5. Used coffee grounds. Spread them over flower beds of acid-craving plants such as azaleas or rhododendrons.6. Plastic tub. Get the largest-size container of yogurt, sour cream, or margarine. When done with the tub, rinse and reuse it as a travel dish for pets or for craft-supply storage.7. Plastic gallon milk jug. Cut off top with a utility knife just above the handle and use as a scoop for kitty litter, birdseed, etc.8. Foam packing peanuts. Put some in the bases of potted plants to help drainage.9. Plastic mesh produce bag. Turn it into a no-scratch scrubber for a gunky pot or pan. Ball up the bag, scour, then throw the whole mess away.

St. Vincent de Paul Society Vehicle Program St. Vincent de Paul of Marin has launched a new vehicle donation program in collaboration with SVDP National’s vehicle vendor, CARS. If you have a car that you would like to donate for a tax deduction, you can call 800-322-8284 or go online and fill out the donation form at http://vinnies.careasy.org/HOME.html. Your gift supports the SVDP Free Dining Room in San Rafael which serves over 500 meals daily.

Strength for the Journey Ministry: For Those with Life-Threatening Illness First Friday each month, starting June 2, 1:00 - 2:30 pm Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, 1111 Gough St., San Francisco St. Elaine Stahl 415-567-2020, ext. 218 estahl@stmarycathedralsf.org The focus and goal of this ministry is spiritual support for people with life-threatening illnesses such as coronary artery disease, stroke, cancer, HIV disease, CPO, or others. Diagnosis of an illness is an opportunity to seek spiritual support through word, sacrament and community. This support group is the First Friday of each month in the Msgr. Bowe Room at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The facilitator is Deacon R. Christoph Sandoval. Also available is guidance on Catholic Teaching and the preparation of Health Care Directives. There is no charge. Sacred Heart Church, in Olema, will be holding a fundraiser on June 25th from 12:00pm-4:00pm, on the grounds of Sacred Heart Parish Center. The event will include a benefit BBQ, Crafts & Games, an

FESTIVAL OF FUN: On Saturday, May 20th from 10am-8pm our Parish School hosted a spectacular festival. Families from the community came to the Festival of Fun to play games, get their faces painted, eat some bbq, and have a turn on one of the many kid friendly rides.

On Sunday, May 21st our Youth Ministry headed to Northgate mall to participate in a scavenger hunt. It ended up being a competition between our Youth verses our younger parishioners. Both teams had an hour to complete their challenges. Among countless other things, the two teams had to wear a hat, sing Happy Birthday to a stranger, and dance the Macarena.
