Fr. Kevin’s Cluttered Desk As we all hopefully have heard by now, the churches will begin celebrating Holy Mass publicly again on Monday, June 1st. This will result in some changes to our weekday Mass schedule but the weekend Mass schedule will remain the same. The limit of 50 people in the church will be a challenge in the beginning but hopefully we will work that out as quickly as possible. The key will be respecting the needs of others. The dispensation from Sunday Mass will remain in effect and so there is no need to rush back to the church; one can still watch the live stream or TV Masses and make their Spiritual Communion but we are moving forward and, with prayer, all will be well.

As we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost we are invited to reflect upon the meaning of church in our lives. Pentecost is said to be the birthday of the church, but there were no buildings, and the people still gathered in the square or in the synagogue or in someone’s home. It would be many years before we saw the massive churches of Europe and the East. The beginnings of the church were simple: “the meal” and social gathering; the care and love of neighbour and of those less fortunate; the focus on scripture and the Word of God. For many the hardest part of these days that we have all faced has been the missing of “the meal” and the social gathering. As a people we are called into relationship and this relationship is to bring peace to each other, harmony in the home, harmony in the family, harmony in the workplace, peace to all and for all. This peace that we are called to seek and to live was bought with the blood of Jesus. “Peace be with you”, He said, and He showed them His hands and His side. The price was paid, now the calling is to live what has been purchased for us. As we begin our process of coming back together, let us be ever vigilant of the needs of the other and safeguard their health and wellbeing.

Peace Fr. Kevin

Mass Intentions

Together In Action - Of the $2M raised each year throughout our diocese, $903,000 is allocated to our diocesan programs, $646,000 is allocated for grants to southern Alberta charities, $360,000 is allocated to national and international outreach and $90,000 covers the administrative campaign costs (which is only 4.5% of the campaign’s total). This year our parish goal is $77,147. We have collected $27,444. If we exceed our goal this year we have requested that excess funds be used for our Repairs & Maintenance fund. Thank you for your continued support.

Grocery Card Program - This is an ongoing program to help raise funds for general revenue. Cards for Save-On- Foods and Sobeys/Safeway are available in $25, $50 and $100 denominations. It is dollar for dollar value so when you pay $100 that is what your card is worth. The purchases must be made with cash or cheque. Please call Shelley at 403-308-5925.

We are still accepting donations at the parish office. Please deposit through the door mail slot. When Masses resume the collection basket will be at the church entrance, there will be no collection during Mass.If you wish to sign up for our Pre-Authorized Giving plan (even as a temporary measure) please fill out the form on our website home page. Also, we are now set up to accept e-transfers at [email protected] you for your continued support of our parish!

Fr. Kevin and Fr. Albert will be praying the Mass every day for the needs of the parish and for these intentions. This week the priests will concelebrate each Mass with both intentions being prayed for.

The public celebration of Mass will begin on Monday, June 1. Please see the Mass schedule on the first page.

Each Mass will be limited to 50 people including the priests and those serving. An attendance list will be taken as you enter the church including full name and phone number. This will enable contact tracing and follow up if necessary. This list will be kept at the parish office and shredded if not needed.

The dispensation of the Faithful from their Sunday obligation will remain in place. No one is obliged to attend Mass while this is in effect. If you choose to attend Mass you will be limited to once per week. A Wednesday is just as sacred as a Sunday.
