May Bulletin
W e had a rather staggered start to the term with a late Easter and a royal wedding to contend with but students and staff have coped well and the rhythm of work quickly established itself. This is
always a busy term with the focus on public examinations but the weather has been kind to our sport. In particular the cricket pitch has been dry enough to provide suitable conditions in preparation for the Sri Lanka tour in July; it may not be so warm when our expedition departs for Alaska! We’ve had some drama and music to lighten the pace with a wonderful concert given by Fifth Year musicians and a compelling production of The Madwoman of Chaillot by Jean Giraudoux. We have also hosted exchange visits from Mutterstadt and Le Havre. The past six months have involved much preparation for the next phase of the development of the School site. The major project is the refurbishment of our English and Modern Languages facilities, some landscaping on the Hill Lane site and some additions to the Sixth Form facilities and, less exotic, a new boiler for Wellington! This is very much the season of public examinations for those in the Fifth Year and Sixth Form. Students will inevitably be under a lot of pressure but, with sensible preparation and a balance of other activities, we remain confident that they will do well. Please remind your sons and daughters that normal school regulations apply, particularly those relating to summer uniform which is introduced for the whole School when we return after Half Term. The second half of term will be largely focused on examinations but there will be some fun with Sports Day, Activities Day and the Lower School Swimming Gala.

have been provided by Mr Havers. We understand that both Upper and Lower Sixth Formers have bought
tickets for the Ball.
As parents, we thought you would wish to know that the School is not assisting with any arrangements for
these events and therefore can accept no responsibility for the conduct of the evening nor for the
welfare of the pupils, their behaviour, accident or damage either at the events or during their travel to

We do, however, wish them every success in what we hope will be both enjoyable and memorable events.

Many of you will be aware that HMC Schools frequently offer Morrisby testing to students in their pre GCSE years. We have conducted Morrisby testing on an opt-in basis for several years. Due to the success of this scheme we have decided this year to provide the test to the whole of the Fourth Year. These tests are intended to provide detailed profiles of your child’s learning styles, aptitudes and problem solving abilities as well as providing specific careers guidance. The test takes 3 hours and is booked for the morning of Monday 13th June. Please click here for more information.
Fourth Year ‘Looking Forward’ Evening for Parents
13th July at 7pm in - Dobson Theatre (previously advertised as 12th July)
The Student Guidance team will examine the implications of A level choices and Mr
Courtney and Mr Herklots will look at how we assess students‟ strengths and weaknesses. The Sixth Form team will also be looking at
options for the future.
Ultimately, we want our students to be better able to make decisions about their own
academic careers, and the evening should help you as parents to help them to do so.

Our new Eco-garden was also financed by KESSOC and designed free of charge by Hilliers. The Mayor will be
