February is the second month of the year in the Julian and
Gregorian calendars. It is the shortest month and the only

common years or 29 days in leap years
February starts on the same day of the week as March and
November in common years, and on the same day of the
week as August in leap years. February ends on the same
day of the week as October every year and on the same day
of the week as January in common years only. In leap years,
it is the only month that ends on the same weekday it begins.
Employee News
May & June 2015
stOn February 21 of 2015, part of Korellis Roofing was forever lost. George P. Korellis, founder of Korellis Roofing, Inc., peacefully passed away with family by his side.
This sorrowful day in our history marked the beginning of a celebration of George and his accomplishments, spanning 86 years of life.
Hundreds filled the funeral home on the day of the wake to express their condolences and gratitude toward George and the whole Korellis family. However, the day of the funeral proved to hold the most moving moment in honor of George. The mile long funeral procession traveled through Hammond from St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church to George's final resting place in Elmwood Cemetery, but not before giving us
thone last glance. The entire Korellis Roofing fleet lined 169 Street on both sides from Columbia to Southeastern, concluding with an enormous American Flag held in place by our cranes. As we followed George, passing each truck, we were reminded of how huge Korellis Roofing has grown from George's garage that first year in 1960. Truly a dream turned into his greatest reality.
Afterwards, the family held a lunch in which George's life was eulogized at his request by family and friends. Each story was packed with tears and laughter as we looked back over the life George lived. It was an emotionally powerful day for Korellis Roofing.
Our hearts are still filled with sadness over the passing of our beloved George, but his legacy will forever live on through his family and friends, and the Korellis Roofing Team.

As the weather begins to warm up, take notice of some simple things:
Driving is already dangerous, but with nice temperatures and children playing outdoors, driving through residential neighborhoods to and from work and during the day can be especially dangerous. *Drive cautiously and anticipate kids
not stopping at the curb. *Be aware of driver distractions with
nicer weather.
Severe weather may be upon us once again. *At work, secure jobsites every day
and be aware of changing conditions throughout the work day.
*At home, have a plan. Keeping your family safe in the event of severe weather is as important as jobsite safety.
Keep our bodies ready, in shape, and ready to work. *Stretch out and work muscles that
may not have been exercised over the winter months.
*Drink enough water every day, both at work and while at home.
*Limit the intake of caffeinated and alcoholic beverages.
Honoring our Founder, George KorellisSafety-Fest Success We recently held our annual Safety-Fest this past March, which turned out to be a huge sucess! Field employees participated in the festivities, helping to train everyone in many different aspects of workplace safety. Assisting us to make this day a success were speakers and demonstrators from various local Police and Fire Departments. Throughout the yard, different learning stations were set up for the employees. They were then split up into groups, making their way through each station during the day. The stations included areas focused on topics such as defensive driving, putting out simulated fires, crane operation, aerial man lift operation, standard safety practices, and fall protection. The topics covered aid in giving imperative information to our employees as well as refreshing them in areas they may already be well educated in. Not only does being safe give owners peace of mind about who is working on their roof and in their region, but it also helps to minimize workplace injuries and to ensure that every employee goes home safe to their family at the end of every work day. Thank you Korellis for keeping our safety a priority!

On March 17th, normally known as St. Patrick’s Day, over half a million people participated in what is now becoming known as St. Baldrick’s Day. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation collects donations for childhood cancer research. This years participants collected donations totaling almost 30 million dollars. On the day of the big event, all participants shaved their heads bald in honor of children diagnosed with cancer. Illona & John Izzi’s two grandsons, Luke & Isaak, both participated and helped to collect over $1,000 for the organization, $445 of which came from Korellis employees who helped to sponsor them! Thank you to Luke and Isaak both for being so brave in the face of cancer. And a little message from Luke & Isaak themselves, “Team Korellis Rocks!”
Lazo Knezic, son of Karen & Nick Knezic, is part of the Union Townsh ip Swim Club, the Typhoons! The swim club directs its efforts toward developing physical development, mental health and positive attitudes of all swimmers regardless of their age or skill level. At the end of March, Korellis Roofing lost another member. Jon Feliciano tragically passed away in a car accident. He was 21 years young with a fiancée and a young daughter. Jon was
a first year apprentice in the commercial department and although he was not with Korellis for long, he had great enthusiasm for his job and was a hard worker. He was always willing to do the jobs that needed to get done for the good of the company. Jon will truly be missed by many. Thank you for all donations that have been collected for the family.
Korellis Roofing recently hired on many new employees this season. We have new employees in almost every department this Spring. So please, if you see an unfamiliar face, please introduce yourself and make all feel welcome!
