Compass

Last year we introduced Compass as an administrative package to streamline

and support families and staff in the day to day management of the school.

Many thanks to all the families who have embraced the package, downloaded

the App and are using the package for absences and payments of camps and

excursions. We have found it is a great tool to keep all families in touch with

what is happening at school. If you have difficulties using Compass or had

trouble downloading the App, please don’t hesitate to contact Deb or Lyndall in

the office at school.

Somers Camp

Every two years the Knox School Network is given the opportunity to attend

Somers Camp. This year we have been offered Somers Camp from Tuesday

14th August - Wednesday 22nd August. The Camp is only offered to Grade 5

and 6 students and is heavily subsidised by the Education Department.

Expression of interest letters went home recently to all Grade 5 and 6 students.

If you would like your child to attend this amazing Camp, please fill in the forms

and return to the office. If you require any further information, please don’t

hesitate to contact me at school.

Scruff’s Back

Scruff returned to WASPS on Tuesday to oversee the PAWS Drawing Club at

lunchtime. It was great to have Scruff back at school along with Mrs. Paton

and new baby Makayla joining the many students at the PAWS Drawing Club.

Grade 3/4 Camp

Yesterday the Grade 3/4 students left for the CYC Island Camp down at Phillip

Island, which for many students is their first camp. The weather was perfect

and you could feel the excitement in the air as the students headed off to the

Island stopping at San Remo to feed the pelicans along the way.

The children will be engaged in all sorts of outdoor adventure and initiative

activities over the three days. We look forward to hearing all about their

adventures when they get home on Friday at approximately 2.30pm.

Hawthorn Football Club Visit

Last Tuesday we had a visit from Hawthorn players, Isaac Smith and Kieran

Lovell. The players spoke to our Grade 3 students about leadership, support,

teamwork, being a good citizen and looking after one another as well as of

course their journey into AFL football. It was great to sit with the players, listen

to their stories as well as learn about their backgrounds and how hard they had

to work to become AFL footballers. Many thanks to the Hawthorn Football Club

for their continued support of our school.

Have a great weekend everyone, and ……..

Camps and Excursions

Thank you to all the families who are using the Compass System.

When your child is invited to attend a Camp or Excursion, Compass will

generate an email to your registered email address advising you of the

event and requesting your permission and any payment required.

As all families are now expected to use the Compass system to give

permission and make payment through Compass for these events by the

requested closing date, it is very difficult for the school to monitor

permission and payment for your child if the Compass system is not used.

There has been a great response to this convenient time efficient system.

If you do not know your login, or if you are having problems using the

system please contact the school office for assistance.

Hawthorn Player Visit We were very lucky to have two Hawthorn Footballers, Kieran Lovell and Isaac Smith visit our Grade 3 students on Tuesday. They players spent time with individual groups of children asking them to consider things apart from diet, exercise and sleep that contribute to our overall health. We were asked to think about people in our lives that had been or were a good influence on us. The students then made individual football jumpers for these people and discussed how they were impacting positively on their lives. The players explained that they were often asked to look at influences in their own lives and which ones were positively impacting on their football or home life, they also explained how important it was to show gratitude to these people. The players were also happy to chat to the kids about football in general.

Division Cross Country The Cross Country Team is being finalised and training is under way. The Carnival details are as follows:- Date – Friday 18th May Venue – Knox Athletics Track Time – 12noon to 2.30pm
