Lankershim LionsLankershim had two visitors this month. The first was Ms. Tammy from Oak View Education Center, which is an alternative school. Ms. Tammy discussed the differences between her school and our school. In April we started a new sports club called “Circle Rule Football.” CRF is an amateur sport that combines football, soccer, and basketball. It’s a fast paced game that is played with an aerobics ball. The kids absolutely love it!

E. Neal Roberts KoalasThe Koalas had guests come visit them. Miss Linda and Izzy from the Desert Guide Dog organization. They informed us about the procedures, training, and importance of specialized trained dogs. All the students had a blast! Also during the month of May we will be holding Wet & Wild Days during minimum days. Finally we will be recognizing and rewarding our A-track students who will be ending their 2009-2010 school year. Hope to see you there!

Every month students highlight a country and in the month of

April we studied the Netherlands (Holland). The kids have been studying about dikes, tulips, windmills, & what kids in the Netherlands daily life is like. All through the month kids have

been studying symbols, flags, information about that country & making or coloring projects that have to do with the Netherlands.

We even have a guest speaker coming in to share the "Dutch"

language with us. Since January, we have studied Israel, China, Haiti & now the Netherlands. The students have been very excited about the program!

Norton Space & Aeronautics

Academy In April our Norton Site

started their Homework Club and learned about Earth Day. Students were taught about helping to take better care of the planet by conserving and reusing materials. Students

made crafts from items around the house, one of the
