Final SHETA Workshop: June 11, 2015
Register for our June 11th SHETA Workshop! Well-seasoned’s cooking school is going to create a seasonal menu just for us! Course fees are normally close to $75 for a private class, but thanks to our STA Special Projects Grant we are able to offer this workshop to our members at a great rate! Please note that SHETA members have the opportunity for advance
registration until May 21, 2015. There are only 20 spots in this workshop!

April SHETA Field Trip
We had a lovely time with Brian and Erin Anderson at the Aldor Acres Dairy Farm for our April SHETA meeting! We had rich conversations regarding the current issues as a dairy farmer in BC, the technologies that have contributed to changes on the farm, as well as implications for student involvement in agriculture.

Surrey Home Economics Teacher Association Scholarship 2015
Surrey Home Economics Teachers are pleased to offer a scholarship in the amount of $400, to a student in the graduating class of 2015. Eligible candidates are those who have taken a minimum of two senior level Home Economics or related courses, and are pursuing a post secondary education in the Fall of 2015. Name:

Applications must be received by Friday June 5, 2015. Please send application and supporting documents to FRASER HEIGHTS SECONDARY SCHOOL (16060 108 Avenue; Surrey, BC; V4N 1M1) ATTN: JOE TONG by courier #141, post or deliver in person. The following supporting documents are required:
1. Completed application.
2. A copy of your school transcript, identifying Senior Home Economics courses taken and grades earned and Grade 12 first semester final grades. For current second semester courses please include a copy of your second semester 1st term, as well as an estimated final mark from your Home Economics teacher.
3. Cover letter, minimum 200 words, not exceeding 500 words, describing how Home Economics has benefited you and how it has impacted your future, as well as a clear indication of applications to a post secondary institution and future career goals. Please note: it is not a requirement that your future education be in the field of Home Economics to be the recipient of this award.
4. TWO reference letters with only ONE letter provided by your Home Economics Teacher.
The successful applicant will be notified in late June. The scholarship will be officially awarded upon receipt of proof of registration from a post secondary school. Should the successful candidate not attend post-secondary school, the scholarship will be awarded to the next candidate. Please direct any questions to Joe Tong ([email protected]).
