Happy Teacher Appreciation Every Day A Note from Donalee:
Ok, I know that Teacher Appreciation Week was last week and that it is only a week and not celebrated actually every day but I think it should be! For all you do, you deserve to be celebrated every day!
It is hard to believe that another school year is almost in the books! As you are finishing up your year and reflecting on a job well done, I know you, you are already thinking about what you can do to make the next school year even better! I have just the thing for you...read on in this newsletter to find out about the “Teacher Time” Workshop coming up here at Mayville State on June 6th and 7th. It will help you to prepare for next year, while still having this year fresh in your mind. I hope to see a lot of you there! You will also find infor-mation on our STEM Boot Camp also offered in June. Each of these opportunities will help you as a teacher and at the same time, you will have fun!
I want to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for all of your support this year. It has certainly been a year of learning and I appreciate how understanding and supportive you have all been. I have enjoyed getting to know more and more of you and connecting again with those of you that I already knew. I have said this before and I will continue to say it again and again, we have some of the best teachers and administrators in the world and I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with you! As you look ahead to next year, keep the Mayville Area Teacher Center in mind as a resource for your school!

“Where the West Begins” and the fun never ends. Join us for the 2016 Summer Geography Institute. Learn how humans have interacted with nature and the environment in Mandan and surrounding area. Whether you are an elementary teacher looking for learning activities or a secondary educator looking to give students depth of understanding, this institute is for you. While expanding your network of colleagues who are such valuable resources, enjoy the highlights of exploration and discovery at Ft. Lincoln State Park, the Missouri River walking workshop, an agriculture field trip, and by finding the real Fort Mandan.
GeoFIT (Forestry Institute for Teachers) (2 credits) Pembina Gorge, Walhalla, ND August 1-4, 2016
Human Geography: Faces and Places: This “classroom on wheels” human geography tour will study people from the past and evaluate present day communities, culture and interactions with the forest, riparian and prairie envi-ronments in the Pembina Gorge area. Visiting experts and local people will present content rich, hands-on outdoor experiences, individual and group activities at Icelandic State Park, Tetrault State Forest, Gingras Trading Post and the Pembina Museum.
Ag Tour – Minot, ND - 1 credit: July 20th and July 27t
hThe Ag Tour gives teachers first-hand experience in North Dakota agricultural production and processing during a two-day field tour. Teachers will spend one day interviewing exhibitors at the ND State Fair as they prepare ani-mals and equipment for ND’s showcase of agriculture. The second day will be spent a week later, following up with the exhibitors during the State Fair. Because NDGA believes that gaining a better understanding of geography will help students and teachers comprehend the impact of agriculture on our region, we target K-12 teachers who are interested in integrating ND studies.
