We all have tools that we use everyday to encourage children to cooperate and learn. Based on the methodology of American psychiatrist and educator Rudolf Dreikurs "that everyone wants to fit in," this fun, interactive, and informative session explores the model of social discipline and focuses on consequences and encouragement as the keys to effective discipline. This session introduces practical discipline tools and gives you an opportunity to assess your discipline toolbox and decide which tools are useful and those to discard.

When You Think of Inclusion - Think of Me, Vicky Pitner"We all have one basic desire and goal; to belong and to feel significant." - Alfred Adler. Adler is considered to be the first community psychologist, because his emphasizes on the human need and ability to create positive social change and impact. Inclusion is not a policy, place, or service, but a process to support diversity and equality. Socially including all children allows for authentic friendships and can support an inclusive culture in the classroom.

Handle with Care, Connie Shingledecker“Handle with Care” is an initiative aimed at helping children succeed in school by alerting school staff with a simple notice when a student experiences a traumatic event involving law enforcement or Child Protection Services (CPS). Often children involved in trauma act out because they don’t know how to handle the ordeal. This can range from not participating in class, to exhibiting anger or even physical pain like a headache or stomach ache. Many of these children are considered drug-endangered and have been exposed to criminal behavior, violence, loss of parents to arrest and incarceration, abuse andneglect as well as other trauma from all they have experienced.
