ÂTRANSCRIPT
Here in an intimate, sunlit studio inside a sprawling,
luscious park tucked within a mid-sized cultural
mecca of a city, you will find your place.
Your place of discovery. Your place of growth. Your
place to feel the spirit of the artist and to set out on
the most noble of pursuits—creation.
At Memphis College of Art, you will find your
place among a select group of aspiring artists.
Each driven by desire and fueled by a unique
environment cultivated for the sole purpose of
fulfilling your potential.
The Summer Academy provides a studio experience
for highly motivated high school junior, senior, or rising
college freshman students who intend to study art at
the college level. The program covers both Fine Arts and
Design Arts curriculum with hands–on study. Emphasis
is placed on visual art career options and portfolio
preparation. Academy participants attend for two weeks
and earn two college credit hours.
This event is designed for students that have completed
grades 10, 11, or 12 by summer 2014. Instruction is
provided by MCA faculty and upper-level graduate
students. Evening activities for participants include
dinner at the Rendezvous, Beale Street, bowling, gallery
tours, and more. Sessions on portfolio preparation and
careers in art are offered.
