MCC/ICCAC/IGHSAU High School & Collegiate Men’s and Women’s Basketball Officials Camp June 15 & 16, 2013 – Iowa State University Basketball Practice Facility, Ames, IA August 3 & 4, 2013 – North Iowa Area Community College, Mason City, IA This basketball officiating camp is designed for both beginning and veteran high school and college officials looking to advance their basketball officiating careers. We aim to help you realistically identify and advance your officiating career goals. Campers will learn the proper 3-person basketball officiating mechanics and court coverage for men’s and women’s collegiate and high school contests, based on your individual desires. We’ll help you improve your game management and communication skills, network with other officials, coaches, and assignors, and have the possibility of being hired by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference, Midwest Collegiate Conference, and Great Plains Athletic Conference for the upcoming season for either the men’s or women’s basketball officiating staff. This camp will also satisfy the IGHSAU clinic requirement for post-season consideration. The collegiate and IGHSAU representatives in attendance will identify and explain exactly what they are looking for in their state tournament officials and post-season collegiate officials. All camp officials will receive feedback from highly experienced officials verbally on the court, in a written observation form, and via game film. Games are one hour in length and will consist of Iowa and surrounding state high school varsity teams. Each official will referee a minimum of two/three games each day of the camp. All campers should be in adequate physical condition to work several competitive games per day. Each official needs to bring full officiating attire (shorts are acceptable) as well as a good attitude. Space is limited as we intend this to be an intensive training camp with extensive one-on-one attention. Clinicians that will be in attendance: Randy Heimerman MCC Men’s & Women’s Supervisor of Officials; Big 12, Conference USA, Mountain West, Missouri Valley, Horizon Men’s Basketball Official Thom McDonald Commissioner, Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Joel Oswald IGHSAU Assistant Director; Women’s Basketball Official Pete Hansen GPAC Men’s & Women’s Supervisor of Officials; Men’s Basketball Official Rick Hartzell Big 12, Conference USA, SEC, Sun Belt, Mountain West, SoCon, WAC, Horizon Men’s Basketball Official Randy Krejci Commissioner, Mississippi Valley Conference; IGHSAU Officials’ Observer Pete Peterson High School Basketball Official – 31 State Tournaments (14 Championship Games); IGHSAU Officials’ Observer Dave Rittman Big 10, Missouri Valley, Mountain West, Summit Women’s Basketball Official; High School Basketball Official; IGHSAU Officials’ Observer If you have any questions regarding this camp, please contact Randy Heimerman at 515-291-7820 or [email protected] or Joel Oswald at 515-288-9741 or [email protected] .
