MPS Total Planning Background Definition:- Master Production Schedule (MPS) is similar to Material Requirement Planning. It will ensure the right availability right material at right time. Once the production plan or requirements are maintained in SAP MRP run will take place. Normally MPS run will be done for specific high value material whose planning results are to be confirmed manually. MPs run will plan and pass on the dependant requirement bu tit will not create any procurement proposal for the material which are planned with MRP run. I.e. in the material master MRP type PD. To summarize, it is almost similar to MRP with different transaction codes. While MPS on line run, MRP materials can also be planned. Objective :- Total On line MPS planning is to be done for a given plan. This document explains the process of running MPS as BACKGROUND processing for a plant. Prerequisites:- PP Master Data Menu path :- Logistics Production Production Planning MPS MPS Total Planning MDBS As a Background Job

Press Twice MDBS As Background Job

Click to create variant

Click Click

Maintain the variant as required Click Maintain the variant description and other desired options

Click Message appear at the bottom

If any variant is already available then follow the steps below. 1. Press MPS run job for appropriate Variant. 2. Press Schedule job Button .

3. Update the following required and optional fields:
Field Name Description Values Date Date the batch
input session was created
Enter value in Date.
Time Description of the Time.
Enter value in Time.
4. Press Schedule periodically Button . Period Duration

5. Select Months 6. Press Create Button . 7. Press Back F3 . 8. Press Exit Shift+F3 . Note: The Job scheduled will now run once monthly (or depending on the choice made) at the specific time selected.
