ME 201: Syllabus [4.00 Credit Hours]

Fundamental concepts; Properties of gases and vapours; Laws of ther-

modynamics and their corollaries. Non-flow and flow processes; Ideal

gases and their cycles. Power cycles, refrigeration cycles and recipro-

cating compressors. Second law of thermodynamics: availability, irre-

versibility and entropy. Thermodynamic relations; Equations of state.

Mixtures of gases and vapours; Psychrometries; Real gases; Fuels and

combustion.
