ABOUT the Museum

The Miami University Art Museum and Sculpture Park, proudly accredited by the American Alliance of Museums since 1984, serves the university and surrounding communities by interpreting, exhibiting and preserving a growing collection of over 16,000 works of art.

Designed by Walter A. Netsch in 1978 and situated on three rolling acres of wooded ground, the museum houses five galleries featuring rotating exhibitions.

The collections are wonderfully diverse, with works of art from nearly every part of the world. Ancient ceramic art traditions of Egypt, Greece, Italy and Iran to Mexico and Central America are complemented by the Elma Pratt International Folk Art Collection and the Edna Kelly Collection of Arts of the American Southwest.

The Messer Collection is the largest privately assembled collection of Leica cameras. Works on paper include historic and contemporary photographs, prints by Rembrandt, Picasso and Warhol among others, together with a growing collection of Japanese woodblock prints. Sculptures by Deborah Butterfield, Nancy Holt, Louise Nevelson, Elizabeth Catlett, Mark Di Suvero, Fletcher Benton, Richard Hunt and others can be studied on our grounds, in the galleries or by appointment.

Enriching and engaging public programs, lectures, films, performances and gallery talks are offered in conjunction with exhibitions. Outreach programs for regional youth include Adventures in Art and Art Explorers.

Convenient parking is available on site. The museum is fully accessible to anyone with disabilities.
