ME-Olympics 2014 is an Inter-Collegiate Sports Competition aiming to develop camaraderie and sportsmanship among PSME Junior units and other Mechanical Engineering Organization as they fight for becoming the champions of basketball, volleyball, football, badminton, table tennis, athletics, chess and palarongpinoy. ME-OLYMPICS are not just about sports, to add some spice, the first ever Mr. and Ms. Mechanical Engineering 2014 and Battle of the Bands will be held to showcase the talent and beauty of the participants.The Overall Champion in the event will have the chance to take home the ME-OLYMPICS 2014 trophy which represents the very goal of the event, excellence through skill and sportsmanship.

GUIDELINES
PARTICIPANTS The competition is open to all Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineering Student Units (QBL Chapter). Every school must have one (1) team to join in every sport and contest. There is no limit for the number of members in a team. Members of each team should be enrolled as Mechanical Engineering student of A.Y. 2014 2015. A PENALTY of disqualification on specific sports will be imposed, if a player is found to be not a bonafide and registered Mechanical Engineering student of that school or university for the current school yearMECHANICS Players must be dressed in proper sports attire and bring their own sports equipment. Representative of each school will be informed for the schedule of each event. He/she is will be in charge of spreading the update to his/her colleagues. Lose by default will be charged to the team that will fail to show within five (5) minutes before the game starts. Water stations will be provided at different parts of the vicinity. If possible, try to bring your own container to reduce the usage of plastics.
II. SPORTS
A. BASKETBALL Only one (1) basketball team per school will be allowed. Each team will be allowed to have at least five (5) male players. Substitutions will be allowed during the game. Single eliminations will be applied. A single game will be 20 minutes, divided into two (2) halves; the first and second half with each half having 10 minutes of running time. The stop-time rule will only be applied on the last 3 minutes of the second half. In case of overtime or a tie after the final buzzer, there will be a 3-minute extension time. Two (2) 15-second timeouts per half will be allowed for each team. Standard rules on basketball will apply. Two (2) official referees will handle the games.
B. VOLLEYBALL Only one (1) Volleyball Team per school will be allowed. Each team will be allowed to have at least six (6) players of any gender. Substitutions will be allowed during the game. Single eliminations will be applied. A single match will be best of three (3) sets; 25-point game for the first and second set and a 15-point game for the third or tie-break set. The first to win two (2) sets wins the match. The first to score 25(15 for the third) points wins the set. In case of a deuce, the first to lead by two (2) points wins the set. A 15-second timeout for the first and second set will be allowed after either team reaches 13 points. No timeouts will be allowed on the third or tie-break set. Standard rules in volleyball will apply. An official referee will handle the games.
C. BADMINTON (DOUBLES) Only one (1) badminton team/pair per school will be allowed. Each pair may be composed of two (2) men, two (2) women, or mixed. A team may have at least two (2) players. No substitution will be allowed during the game. Change of players will be only allowed for the next games. Round Robin will be applied in the Elimination Round. Two (2) teams for each bracket will advance to the Semi-final Round. The Point System will be applied in case there is a tie in the standing during the Elimination Round. Cross-bracket single eliminations will apply on the Semi-final Round. A single match will be best of three (3) sets; 21-point game for the first and second set and an 11-point game for the third or tie-break set. The first to win two (2) sets wins the match. The first to score 21(11 for the third) points wins the set. In case of a deuce, the first to lead by two (2) points wins the set. E. CHESS Only one (1) chess team per school will be allowed. Each team must have a maximum of two (2) players. No substitution will be allowed during the game. Each player will play in different brackets. Upon registration, a representative should indicate who will play for Bracket A and Bracket B. Players will play in a Round Robin tournament. Winning a game gives a player one point, half point for a draw and no point for losing a game. The player with the highest accumulated points shall be named the Champion. There will be two (2) winners, one for Bracket A and another for Bracket B. A player will win if he/she captures the opponents king in a legal way or his/her opponent surrenders. The touch, move rule will apply. A game will be restricted to a maximum of one (1) hour. Each player must make a move within 2 minutes; otherwise, the player will lose the game. If there is no captured king after the allotted time, the winner will be determined by the weighted points of the remaining pieces. The weights of each piece are as follows: Pawn 1; Bishop 3; Horse 3; Rook 5; Queen 9. Standard rules in chess will apply.
F. FOOTBALL Only one (1) Football team per school will be allowed. Each team must have a maximum of eleven (11) male players. Substitutions will be allowed during the game. Single eliminations will be applied. Match consists of two periods of 20 minutes each. 10-minute half-time break between halves. Standard rules on Football (Europe) will apply.

I. Battle of the Bands A registration fee of Php500.00 will be collected from each participant. There should be only one (1) band to represent each school/student unit. The members of each band should be a bona fide Mechanical Engineering student of A.Y. 2014 2015. Each band must have a PSME or Alumni PSME member as their band mate.(Optional) Failure to comply with the rules will be automatically disqualified Maximum of Three (3) Songs: OPM, Foreign and Song choice.
