Room Monitors Wanted – Intermediate and senior 4-H members are encouraged
to sign up as a room monitor. Even if you are not participating in Club Day we really
need your help! It is important that talks are introduced before they speak so the
judges are on the correct score sheet. It also helps those wishing to sit in on talks know
when it’s ok to go into a room or wait until the presentation is finished to go in.
Please sign up on the registration link provided to be a room monitor.

IN OTHER NEWS Food Science in Action Competition: The Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) is sponsoring the fourth annual competition for students to show
off their video skills and creativity in the STEM fields. The theme for the 2019 competition is “Teaching
and Learning Science Through Food.” This competition is open to anyone and does not require
membership to IFT. Students create a 1– to 5–minute video to teach viewers about an aspect of food
science. The video must be detailed, include a materials and equipment list, so viewers can easily repeat
the project at home or school. Scientific accuracy is important, so attention to detail is critical. This is very
competitive and all submissions will receive constructive feedback. Video submissions are due April 8,
2019.Learn more at www.ift.org/Knowledge-Center/Learn-About-Food-Science/Food-Science-in-

Kansas Junior Producer Days Scheduled-SWINE AND GOAT
The 2019 Kansas Junior Producer Days have been scheduled! Junior
Swine Producer Day will be hosted on March 9, 2019, with Junior Meat
Goat Producer Day being March 30, 2019. Both junior day programs
will be in the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry's Weber
Hall on the K-State campus. These events are one-day educational
opportunities for youth, parents, agents, and project leaders to learn
about various aspects of livestock project selection and management.
An optional Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) session will
be held at the conclusion of both junior days. This will be an
opportunity for youth to obtain their YQCA certification through an
instructor-led session. The Kansas State Fair Grand Drive and KJLS will
require all exhibitors to be YQCA certified for the 2019 shows. Please
watch the K-State Youth Livestock Program website and Facebook
page for registration details! Families will have the option to mail in
their junior day registration, or complete it online.
