Ladies Bible Class The Ladies Bible Class that usually meets on Tuesday
mornings will meet on Wednesday, December 14, for
the last class of this year. Romonna Wilson is hosting
at her house (409 Kimberly, Mesquite). There will be a
sock exchange. Romonna will provide Santa Fe
Chicken Soup, everyone else is asked to bring sides
and desserts.

Diligent Hands is a program where Meadow View Teens will do jobs around your home to earn a
scholarship donation.

The Holiday Love Baskets are finished and have been delivered to about 88 of our members. What a wonderful
way to start the Christmas season, reaching out in love to each other.
Thank you for donating baskets and the money to purchase all the fruits and goodies. Also thanks to those
who came to assemble the baskets and then later to deliver the baskets. So many were involved and so many were
blessed with this ministry!

"All Men Are Created Equal"
The Declaration of Independence states, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." This claim of our nation's founding document, which is said to be "self-evident," is also biblical. Paul told the Athenians, "From one man he made all nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth" (Acts 17:26 NIV). All people groups upon planet Earth ultimately originated from the same source--God through Adam. God doesn't have any one people group which he favors above others. As Paul later said to the Romans, "God does not show favoritism" (2:11 NIV). God created Adam "in his own image" (Gen. 1:27 ESV). Adam fathered his offspring "in his own likeness, in his own image" (5:3 NIV). Therefore, all of Adam's descendants--all people--are made in God's image. It is this fact--that man possesses God's image--that makes a man superior to an animal, and that makes it wrong to abuse another man (Gen. 9:3-6). Righteous Job was far ahead of his time in his belief in the equality of all men. He defended himself against charges of injustice leveled against him by his "friend" Eliphaz (Job 22:5-11) with these words: "If I have denied justice to any of my servants, whether male or female, when they had a grievance against me, what will I do when God confronts me? What will I answer when called to account? Did not he who made me in the womb make them? Did not the same one form us both within our mothers?" (31:13-15 NIV). Solomon echoed Job's sentiments: "Rich and poor have this in common: The LORD is the Maker of them all" (Prov. 22:2 NIV). Therefore, whenever a rich person mistreats a poor person because they can, Solomon warns, "Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker" (17:5 NIV).
