Meagan Hage Western Pines Middle School, Grade 8 About my photograph: The picture is to represent what is discussed in Robert Frost's poem "The Road Not Taken." In life we come across problems where we are forced to make decisions between a number of choices. When I'm stuck in a situation, the important thing to do is to think of what the outcomes of both sides would be. The choices I make depend on the outcomes. The questions that go through my head are, How will my decisions affect others? How will my family think? Will I regret my decision? The photograph captures a picture of my dog. She is demonstrat- ing Robert Frost's poem. She is in the center of two roads deciding which path to go down. To quote the poem "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by." When we are faced with choices we may not think of the poem but we can relate back to it. Eventually she made her decision, although she may not have thought of the questions that some people do but she is very smart to sense where she should go. To conclude, we can learn a lot from the poem, "The Road Not Taken." It may not say that we need to think about our decisions but it tells us implicitly by comparing it to the two roads. We are faced with challenges everyday where we will make decisions and it's important to make the good choice that we won't end up regretting. My photograph helps me understand the point Robert Frost is trying to get across. It may take us a little time to think about the choices but hopefully in the end we will make that ethical decision.
