BCSD Foodservice is committed to increasing our purchases and preparation of locally grown goods to do our part in helping to sustain our New York farmers. Help us to support our NY farmers and keep Growing NY. Buying school lunch provides larger buying power for our district food service department to continue our initiatives to support our local NY economy and farming industry.

Beacon District Wellness Committee next meeting is FEBRUARY 5th at 4:00 p.m.

BCSD Food Service is continuing our efforts at a more sustainable program looking to reduce our footprint with waste in our cafeterias. In late January we started converting to reusable (washable) trays thus eliminating nearly 500 trays going to the trash daily. This conversion to washable trays will help to reduce the trash from BHS cafeteria by more than 60%. We can only keep this initiative going with your help. Please help keep our trays in circulation by returning them to the tray return area in the front of the cafeteria. BHS cafeteria has new recycling stations for collection of recyclable bottles and cans. Sorting recyclables will also help this initiative to succeed.
