From 1st September 2016, the price of a school meal increased
to £2.00 per day. We have delayed the increase to parents, and
so the new price will apply from Wednesday 4th January 2017
when we return to school after Christmas. (The cost of Nursery
dinner remains the same at £1.75 per day.)

Christmas Disco The Christmas Disco will be on Thursday 15th December, straight
after school. Tickets cost £2.50 and are available from the
payment desk at the school office. Otherwise, you can pay using
Agora if you have an account set up, and avoid the queue to pay!
You can pay anytime this week, if you wait until Thursday
morning then there will probably be quite a queue.
If your child is normally in an after school club on Thursday,
they do not need to pay for the disco, but they will not get
a refund for the club, please check at the office if you are
not sure whether you need to pay for the disco!
The disco starts straight after school, children do not need to
wear school uniform on this day. Food is provided – hot dog
(meat or vegetarian), crisps, sweets and drinks.
Children need to be collected from their classroom door at
5:30pm. If you need to collect your child early, please arrange it
with the class teacher beforehand, the doors and gates to school
will all be locked until 5:15.
Reception Classes Party Reception classes will not be joining the disco after school, they
will be having a party instead on Friday 16th December in
school time!
Children can wear party clothes on that day, but they need to
be dressed warm and sensible for the outdoors!
Milk We start a new term in
January, and so you need to
pay again if you want your
child to have milk after the
holidays.
You can pay at the office, or
using SIMS Agora.
The cost is £26.35 for the
rest of the year.

Walking Bus As you will know, the Walking Bus is an extended school
provision. It was established some years ago to address traffic
congestion around school by encouraging parents and carers to
park at the Sheffield United Academy. The school has met the
cost of providing three members of staff to accompany the
children to and from the Academy car park.
Due to pressure on the school budget, the Governing Body has
had to carefully consider our range of extended school provision,
the cost, and the impact or benefit for our children. With regret,
we are no longer able to provide the Walking Bus and the Return
of the Walking Bus.
Breakfast Club As you will know, at October half term we raised the cost of
Breakfast Club from £1 per day to £2 per day. This is because we
have a limited amount of money available to subsidise our
extended school provision, and we had to address the shortfall.
As we are no longer offering the Walking Bus, we are able to use
the savings for a bigger subsidy on the Breakfast Club, and so
after Christmas it will cost £1 again!
Breakfast Club is open every school day from 8:00am, last orders
are at 8:30, it is open to all children in school. Children in Year 1
and below need to be accompanied by an adult.
There is no need to book a place, just turn up!
School Photos The school photos have
arrived, but they need to be
sorted out ready to give to
you!
We will be sending them
home on Wednesday, please
call into the school office if
you need them urgently for
posting to relatives.
Christmas Eve Mass Father Albert has arranged a
children’s Mass on
Christmas Eve, he would be
delighted to see you! The
Mass starts at 4:00pm.

1. For each club, look at the list of year groups.
2. If it is highlighted GREEN for your child’s year group, this club is suitable for them!
3. If it is highlighted AMBER, it may be suitable for them … please check if you are unsure.
BIG LONG CLUB
We offer 30 spaces on this club, which is held
in the Crescent Community Centre and the
Family Learning Room. Children who attend
the club have their tea (e.g. pizza), and they
can choose from a range of activities including
arts and crafts, homework support, basketball
or pool (we have a new table!) or just chilling
and playing with the toys.
SWIMMING
We offer 14 places on this club, which is for
invited children only. The sessions take place
at Concord swimming pool, and the children
work hard to be prepared for competitive
swimming opportunities. Children are chosen
for this club through talent spotting at school
swimming lessons.
DANCE
We offer 20 places on this club, which is led
by a professional dance teacher. Each half
term there is a different focus (e.g. Street
Dance). Each half term we swap around so
that each age range has an opportunity to
take part throughout the year.
LET’S GET BAKING
We offer 8 places on this club, which is held in
the school’s fully equipped Design
Technology room. Each week, the children
prepare and cook a different food, and then
bring it home for you to try!
MUSIC TECHNOLOGY
We offer 8 places on this club, which is led by
one of our music teachers. The children work
on iPads to compose music, and then this is
merged electronically to produce a
collaborative piece.
MULTISPORT
We offer 20 places on this club, which is led
by one of our Sports Curriculum Specialists.
Each half term there is a different focus (e.g.
Gymnastics). Each half term we swap around
so that each age range has an opportunity to
take part throughout the year.
MULTISPORT

ECO & GARDENING
We offer 12 places on this club. As well as
exploring the environment in our school
grounds, the children will be making things –
e.g. bird boxes, bird feeding stations, etc.
Once every half term, there will be a special
event – a (Mrs) Guest appearance from an
interesting or exotic animal!
COMPUTER AND CODE
We offer 12 places on this club, which is led
by our ICT Curriculum Specialist. Miss Franks
will support the children to write programs
that will develop their existing ICT skills.
Pupil Voice at St Catherine’s
Last year, pupil voice was a huge success! Your thoughts and opinions were heard loud
and clear and they made a big impact across school. This year the theme for pupil voice is
choice! We want to celebrate how your voice is heard every day at school through the
choices you make. Every child at our school makes important choices both in an out of
the classroom . You might choose where you sit, who you work with or what activity you
do in the playground. Your choices shape your school day and help you to be a resource-
ful and independent member of your school community.
To launch this years Pupil Voice theme, we want you to come up with a colourful logo and slogan
that could be displayed on our pupil voice display board in the dining room and on the pupil voice
display in each classroom! Imagine, it could be your design that the whole school sees every day!
The design that represents every child having a voice in our school!
Please design your logo and slogan in the box above and return your design to Miss Franks by Friday
6th January.
The School Council will be judging the winning design!
Remember this years theme is ‘choice’.
