BISMILLAH HIR RAHMAN NIR RAHEEM

(In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

All praise is for Allah. Darood (Blessings) and Salaam (Peace) on Muhammad, his

Family, and his Companions.

NOON - THE ARABIC LETTER

The Arabic letter Noon is equivalent to the letter ‘N' in the English

alphabet.

It is the 25 twenty-fifth letter in the Arabic character set.

Noon in 14th letter in Arabic numerology which is known as Abjad,

has the value of 50.

This article is about the spiritual meaning of the letter Noon.

INTRODUCTION

In The Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

1

Noon. By the pen and that which they write

2

You are not, by your Rabb's (Lord's) grace, mad or possessed.

And for you is a reward unfailing.

4 And you are of a tremendous nature.

[Quran: Al Qalam Chapter 68]

Page 2: Meaning of 5074

The letter Noon is used as the opening letter of Chapter 68 in the

Quran. It is also the 13th letter in the verse Bismillah (shown at the top

of page 1 of this book). Al Qalam, Chapter 68 verses 1 to 4 were the

second Revelation to Muhammad from Allah through Jibraeel ().

In the first Revelation, Al Alaq chapter 96, the first occurrence of the

letter 25th positionNoon

Although, in the second Revelation the letter  is placed as the first

Arabic character. There are four further interesting points to note about

this second Revelation.

The Revelation stopped on the fourth verse on the letter Meem.

The Revelation has exactly 68 Arabic characters in it. It has been placed

in the Quran as chapter 68.

The total number of verses in chapter 68 is equal to 52.

This is the 25th position of the letter Noon

Noon's position in the Arabic character set is also 25.

THE LETTER NOON

The first Revelation, Chapter 96 Al Alaq verses 1 to 4, started with the

letter MeemMeemAlif

It is also important to note that out of the 52 verses in chapter 68,

. and the rest of the verses (42) end in 10 verses end in

Why has the 25th position of the letter  in the first Revelation been

transposed to arrive at 52 verses for chapter 68?

THE REVERSIBLE QUALITY OF NOON

The letter Noon = Noon Waw NoonNoon

) and Waw  (  (They are ).

In the first verse of chapter 68, if we count the number of letters in that

verse we have 16 letters.

Now if we subtract the 3 letters of Noon (Noon Waw Noon)

in the verse Bismillah. That matches exactly with the position of the

letter

in the verse Bismillah. from the above verse to arrive at the

visible Since Hidden (Batin) is the opposite of the Visible (Zahir), we

had to hide the visible

What does the letter

 represent?

THE TWO WORLDS

Page 3: Meaning of 5074

The two Noons

The way this has been arrived at, is from the word  for shoes, which

Musa () was told to remove in the Holy Valley of Tuwa.

12 I, even I, am your Rabb (Lord). So take off your Na_alaik (shoes), for

you are in the holy valley of Tuwa.

[Quran: Ta Ha Chapter 20]

There are two shoes one for each foot.

There are two worlds, this world and the next world.

The spiritual meaning is: Remove your desires for both this world and

the next world.

Whereas Muhammad  on the Night of Ascension remembered this verse

and decided to remove his shoes.

Not because he did not understand the spiritual meaning.

But, as a form of respect, he performed the outward action with the

inner meaning.

He was told to proceed with his shoes. Which meant, whatever you

desire, it is yours, in this world and the next.

Muhammad  did not ask for anything for himself. He asked Allah that

his followers be forgiven on the Day of Judgement.

THE VISIBLE AND THE INVISIBLE

Therefore in Chapter 68 Verse 1, the first Noon

is the next world. The next world is invisible to us while we are present

in this world.The second

(Pen). (Tablet) by the This world and the next world are created

because it has already been inscribed on the

(Pen){ AQL Universal Intellect}. (Tablet){ Universal Soul} by the To

arrive into this world our name must have been inscribed on the

Allah knew about us, in His Knowledge, before we were even born. We

existed in Allah's Knowledge in the invisible world before coming into

the present world.

. by the . Everything that has existed, or is in existence, or will come

into existence has already been inscribed on the  and the Allah, having

created the Light of Muhammad , created the

If ‘something' is not already inscribed on the , then it will never come

into existence.

It cannot come into existence.

Therefore Allah commanded the Pen to write.

Page 4: Meaning of 5074

The Pen wrote. The Pen only wrote what Allah willed, no more and no

less.

ARRIVAL INTO THIS WORLD

We arrive in this (Noon

.to the last Having arrived in the present world, we have to cross 14

stages, represented by the first letter

) love and kindness we get from our parents and / or our guardians. The

first stage is (

).As we grow up we are taught about Allah (

We can analyse the rest of the letters of the verse, stage by stage

according to our capacities.

The final stage we must aim for is to be loved by Allah,

) when our name is called for the second time. Our Rabb, before we

proceed to the next world (

The lesson to be learnt is love () and kindness towards all creation.

In that state we can concentrate better. The achievement of the goal

becomes easier.

On the other hand, in a state of hatred and jealousy we dissipate our

energy and concentration, which drives us further and further from our

goal.

The goal being nearness to Allah.

THE LIGHT AND THE FIRE

Both, this world and the next world can be NaarNoor

We must try and follow the light and leave alone the things which

attract towards the fire.

. Allah has placed these two SAEven in man or I

of this world is the body (or Nafs) which is attached to desire. The

of the next world is the soul (or Ruh) which commands the body. This is

the fire. The

.If the soul is purified, it becomes

.If the soul is corrupted, it becomes

Insan

in the word Hence the two .

To understand the next world, we have to understand Islam both from

the outer performance of rituals and duties plus the inner spiritual

meaning of those rituals. Without the spiritual understanding of the

outer rituals and obligations, the outward performance of these rituals,

do not carry much weight.

Page 5: Meaning of 5074

This world is the school of learning for the proper conduct in the next

world.

This world is the school of learning for our existence in the next world.

This world is the school of learning for knowing our way in the next

world.

LOOKING FOR GUIDANCE

The letter Noon

We have already established that chapter Al Qalam has 52 verses with

.42 of these verses ending in

can be read left to right or right to left, if we transpose the ‘total

number' of the verses of Al Qalam we arrive at 25 from 52.Since

Chapter 25 is Al Furqan - The Criterion. The name of the chapter starts

with the Arabic letter Fa ().

The criterion for the purposes of the present article is Noon and not Fa.

On the other hand, if we take the ‘number' of verses ending in Noon

(42) and transpose the number 42 we arrive at 24.

. The name of the chapter starts with the letter Chapter 24 is . The

verse that is the heart of this chapter is:

35 Allah is the Noor (Light) of the heavens and the earth. The similitude

of His Noor (Light) is as a niche where there is a lamp. The lamp is in a

glass. The glass is as a shining star. (This lamp is) kindled from a

blessed tree, an olive neither of the East nor of the West, whose oil

would almost glow forth (of itself) though no fire touched it. Noor

(Light) upon Noor (Light), Allah guides to His Noor (Light) whom He will.

And Allah speaks to mankind in allegories, for Allah is knower of all

things.

[Quran: An Noor Chapter 24]

For a full explanation of the Verse of Light see Imam Ghazzali's Mishkat

Al Anwar.

The important point to notice here is that the above Verse of Light

starts with MeemAlifAyat ul KursiMeemAlif for a fuller explanation].

Now the verse of Light is numbered 35.

We can either transpose the ‘total number' of verses for chapter 68 Al

Qalam (52) and arrive at 25.

Then we need to add 10 for the verses that end in Meem

is the guiding factor. In other words, we have to rely on the Guidance

left by Muhammad for his followers to seek Allah. Alternatively we can

Page 6: Meaning of 5074

seek Allah directly by adding 1 for Here  to the total number of verses

of Al Qalam (52) and arrive at 53.

Then we can transpose that number and arrive at 35.

FOLLOWING THE GUIDANCE

For Muslims, it is imperative that we follow the Sunnah (Example) of

Muhammad  when seeking Allah. Then there is no question of failing. All

the Messengers from Adam () to Isa () and all the saints had to

understand the Spirituality of Muhammad  to attain nearness to Allah.

Muhammad  is the only one who reached Allah directly because he

understood himself, or to say it another way, he understood his

position in Allah's plan, or to say it yet another way

Muhammad  understood Allah like no other person before him or after

him. Hence:

1 We have given you the Fountain of Abundance (Knowledge)

[Quran Al Kawsar Chapter 108]

This verse in Arabic starts with the letters Alif Noon Alif.

As for the non-Muslims who follow the path of mysticism, they arrive at

some degree of Truth.

But because of their denial of the role of Muhammad  and the Quran in

this path, the Truth that they arrive at, is unclear.

Allah has placed the Light (Noor

that separates mankind from animals. It is this

Allah guides to His  (Light) whom He will.

RECOGNIZING THE GUIDE

The verse numbers of Al Qalam (42 verses ending in Noon and 52

verses in total) can be applied to the Quran and we arrive at: (verse is

51 is included for continuity in verse 52)

51 And it was not (vouchsafed) to any mortal that Allah should speak to

him unless (it be) by revelation or from behind a veil, or (that) He sends

a messenger to reveal what He will by His leave. He is Exalted, Wise.

52 And thus have We inspired in you (Muhammad) a Spirit of Our

command. You did not know what the Scripture was, nor the Faith. But

We have made it a Noor (light) whereby We guide whom We will of Our

servants. And you do guide to the right path.

[Quran: Ash Shura Chapter 42]

The above verse confirms what has been stated earlier that Allah only

guides those people who follow the light of the Quran and the guidance

of Muhammad . Otherwise the Truth becomes hazy for those without a

Page 7: Meaning of 5074

spiritual guide, and all spiritual guides lead to

Muhammad  - . Hadee This is confirmed by Allah in the Quran:

158 Say (Muhammad): Mankind! I am the messenger of Allah to you all--

(the messenger of) Him to Whom belongs the Sovereignty of the

heavens and the earth. There is no god only Him. He gives life and

death. So believe in Allah and His messenger, the unlettered Prophet,

who believes in Allah and in His words and follow him that you may be

guided.

[Quran: Al Aaraf Chapter 7]

The above verse shows us that Muhammad  is the Guide for all

mankind. Because Allah's Noor or Light or guidance is placed in all

mankind. Muhammad  the first Light or Noor created by Allah, is the

guide for all mankind from Adam () to the last human being that will be

born, he is the guide that leads others to Allah.

Since the First creation by Allah was the Noor of Muhammad , and

everything else was created from that Light.

What ever the Qalam (Pen) wrote came into existence, or will come into

existence.

WHAT IS GUIDANCE ?

What is meant by Guidance? Guidance is something that cannot be seen

by the eye. In other words, Guidance is Light which cannot be seen by

the eye. The Guidance is Light. "Allah speaks to mankind in allegories".

Allegories meaning analogy or comparison. The Light spoken of in

chapter 24 verse 35 means Guidance. The Guidance or Light is logic.

The Guidance or Light is reason. The Guidance or Light is knowledge.

The Guidance or Light is awakening or inspiration if Allah Wills. It is

what leads man to Allah. The following is an example of the Guidance or

Light: { Those Whom Allah has given light see what others do not see

especially from Holy Quran}

163

We have sent you inspiration as We sent it to Nuh and the Messengers

after him; We sent inspiration to Ibraheem Ismaeel Iss_haaq Yaqub and

the Tribes to Isa Ayub Yunus Haroon and Sulaiman and to Dawood We

gave the Zaboor.

[Quran: An Nisaa Chapter 4]

APPLYING THE GUIDANCE

Page 8: Meaning of 5074

Let us apply the guidance to the above verse and see if we can increase

our knowledge if Allah Wills.

First of all, just looking at the verse, the first person that Allah

mentions is NoonNoon Waw HaNuh

which also has three letters. The first two letters are the same as

Not to mention the word   which also has three letters.

There are 13 people or groups mentioned in this verse, namely:

(1) Nuh, (

2) the Messengers after him,

(3) Ibraheem,

(4) Ismaeel,

(5) Iss_haaq,

(6) Yaqub,

(7) the Tribes,

(8) Isa,

(9) Ayub,

(10) Yunus,

(11) Haroon,

(12) Sulaiman and

(13) Dawood.

Subtract the three letters of Noon Waw NoonNoon

The position of the letter  is 13 in the verse Bismillah.

All right, let us try and see if the above was merely a coincidence.

Let us start again and see if we can connect the letter Noon

() is the one who is mentioned in the tenth position in Chapter 4 Verse

163 above.Although there are certain chapters named after the

Messengers of Allah,

.Chapter 10 in the Quran is also called

His name is deliberately placed tenth in the above verse.

() is also referred to as And  in the Quran.

Where as Nuh is chapter 71 and Ibraheem is chapter 14.

To emphasise the connection with the letter Noon

connection too obvious. (Companion of the fish) so as not to make

the  () is mentioned as Although in this instance

and But if we look at what we are told in the Quran, the connection

is  and Light.

48

Page 9: Meaning of 5074

So wait with patience for the command of your Rabb (Lord) and be not

like the Companion of the Fish when he cried out in agony.

49

Had not Naymatun (Grace) from his Rabb (Lord) reached him he would

indeed have been cast off on the naked shore in disgrace.

50 But his Rabb (Lord) chose him and placed him among the righteous

[Quran: Al Qalam Chapter 68]

We have to look at verse 49 where the words RahmatFadhlNaymatum

Min Rabbih

and Guidance.Allah also chose the verse numbers deliberately to hint

at the letter

{NUR, Noon Waw Ra=256 2+5+6=13 1+3=4 ,4th Ism=Quddus

4thNameof Rasul Mahmood.}Noon  () in verse 48 and Allah

mentions Allah mentions

in the verse Bismillah. Which again equates to the position of

) also has three letters. In other words, he became enlightened. And we

must all remember the following concerning ( () in this chapter, takes

no more than three verses. ) we are told Allah chose him and placed

him among the righteous. The entire mention of And in verse 50

(Numerical value of  ():

Rasool Allah said, "None should say that I am better than Yunus bin

Matta."

[Sahih Bukhari]

THE ENLIGHTENING OF YUNUS ( )

Because Yunus () ran away from his mission to guide his community,

Allah first plunged him in darkness in the belly of the fish.

This was not just the worldly darkness but also the spiritual ‘darkness'.

Then he started repenting and the inner light was bestowed on him.

Followed by outer light, whereby he was taken out of the belly of the

fish.

Hence the mention in this chapter about Yunus (). {La illaha il-anta

subhaneka inee kuntum min alzalemeen You: Glory to You: I was indeed

oppressor to myself!""There is no god only.

{When They are Oppressors to them selves Ya Muhammad (S) let them

come to you for forgiveness, if you forgive them then Allah has forgiven

them and Most Merciful}

Page 10: Meaning of 5074

Let us look at the verse which includes the Zikr of Yunus () and then try

to see the connection between guidance and light and the chapter Al

Qalam.

87 And remember Zaan-noon when he departed in wrath: he imagined

that We had no power over him! But he cried through the depths of

darkness "There is no god only You: Glory to You: I was indeed wrong!"

[Quran: Al Anbiyaa Chapter 21]

In the above verse, which is also known as Ayat Kareem, there are

exactly 14 Noons

In Chapter 68 verse 1 we have 14 letters between the first and the last .

THE 14 LETTERS

The guidance is in the letters of the verses.

There are 14 letters between the two Noons

are acting like light beacons. The two

The connection is that there are 14 letters which are used in certain

chapters of the Quran as the opening verses.

There are 14 combinations of these letters.

These 14 letters are called The  or the Abbreviated Letters. The

Muqattaat letters are:

The number of chapters which have these 14 letters in different

combinations as their opening verses is 29 {Surahs ilm ghaib}.

Subtract the 16 letters of Chapter 68 verse 1 from the total number of

chapters with Muqattaat we get 29 - 16 = 13 the position of the

letter Noon in the verse Bismillah.

If we now take away the letters for:

Noon

Meem  and

Wawgiven to   from verse 1 chapter 68 (16 - 9) we are left with 7 letters

which is the same number as in the title  () by Allah in Chapter 21 Verse

87.

If we now discount the repeated letters in verse 1 chapter 68 we are

left with 10 letters as shown:

Noon, Waw, Alif, Laam, Qaf, Meem, Ya, Seen, Toin and Ra

Looking at the title of Yunus () which is AlifsZaan Noon.

Page 11: Meaning of 5074

These can be interpreted as the number 11 which is one more than the

number in the above letters. This was a shorthand analysis.

Alternatively we can look at it in a long winded way by the number of

times Yunus () is mentioned in the Quran. Yunus () is mentioned in the

following places in the Quran:

1 Chapter 4 An Nisaa verse 163 (Yunus) 1 verse

2 Chapter 6 Al Anaam verse 86 (Yunus) 1 verse

3 Chapter 10 Yunus verse 98 (Yunus) 1 verse

4 Chapter 37 As Saffat verses 139-147 (Yunus) 9 verses

5 Chapter 68 Al Qalam verses 48-50 (Companion of Fish) 3 verses

6 Chapter 21 Al Anbiyaa verses 87-88 (Zaan Noon) 2 verses

Total number of verses = 17. Again it is one more than the number of

letters in Al Qalam verse 1 which has 16 letters.

The two NoonsAlifs

as displayed by the word Insan.Every human being has the two

There is something extra that was bestowed on Yunus ()

by Allah ("None should say that I am better than Yunus bin Matta." ).

YUNUS ( ) AND THE TITLE ZAAN NOON

Now lets look at the title .Zaan Noon

Za (Numerical value = 700),

Alif

Alif

Laam

Noon

Waw

Noon (Numerical value = 50).

If we add the numerical values of these letters we have :

700 + 1 + 1 + 30 + 50 + 6 + 50 = 838.

Notice that the overall sum 838 can be read either way, left to right or

right to left just like Noon

.The number 838 itself has the digit 3 in the middle as if it stands for

the three letters of

Hide the digit '3' and add the two digits which are '8' and '8' we get 16

for the letters in chapter 68 verse 1.

.Alternatively add all three digits (8+3+8) and we get

in the verse Bismillah. And if we now subtract the digit 3 from the two

8's (8 + 8 - 3) we again arrive at 13 the position of the letter

Page 12: Meaning of 5074

 are heard once again.The words

in All this agrees because there is an extra . As far as pronunciation is

concerned, the extra Alif is not required.

This is further proof that the Quran is intact without omissions or

additions.

After all, Allah has taken the responsibility of guarding the Quran

Himself.

9 We have without doubt sent down the Message; and We will certainly

guard it (from corruption).

[Quran: Al Hijr Chapter 15]

It was mentioned earlier in this article that in Al Qalam 10 verses end

with the letter NoonMeemNoonMeem. Allah has the Power and Wisdom

to do whatever He Wills.

THE 9 VISIBLE LETTERS OF MUQATTAAT

As we have already seen, there are 10 individual letters in chapter 68

verse 1 (without repetition). That ties in with the 10 verses ending

in Meem

.The verses relating to Yunus (), 48, 49 and 50, two of these verses end

in

. in these three verses there are 9 If we count the number of

With the number 9 in mind, we find in verse 1 there are 9 letters from

the Muqattaat.

() is the odd one out.The letter

Waw

.  and stay towards This is a guidance to keep away from the

Since we are on the subject of 9 letters of Muqattaat, the verse

Bismillah also has 9 letters of Muqattaat (not counting repeated

letters).

() is the odd one out. There the letter

Which shows that the guidance is for the one created from the Creator

and there is no number higher than 9.

in Chapter 68 Verse 1) and both verses contain 9 letters of

Muqattaat. in Bismillah and Or looking at in another way 2 odd letters (

29 chapters start with these Muqattaat.

Is there a connection?

, do the two The title  mean 1+1 = 2, or 1 and 1 = 11? 2+9 also = 11

{11th Name of Rasul is Yaseen}, or does it = 2?

Page 13: Meaning of 5074

Is there a connection?

The connection is for the created to turn in repentance towards the

Creator.

He will forgive our faults and elevate us by showering His Mercy on us.

If He forgives us, we will meet Him 1 to 1.

SEARCH FOR THE MISSING 5 LETTERS OF MUQATTAAT

There are 14 letters of Muqattaat. 14(total) - 9(visible) = 5 missing

letters of Muqattaat from chapter 68 verse 1.

The word Noor

The five missing letters of Muqattaat are

Kaaf

Ha

Ayn

Saad

Ha (as in Haqq) (Numerical Value = 8).

Add the numerical value of the missing five letters and we have:

20 + 5 + 70 + 90 + 8 = 193 = 1 + 9 + 3 = 13

which starts pointing to the letter Noon in the verse Bismillah.

If we now look at the 9 Muqattaat letters in Chapter 68 verse 1, they

are

Noon

Alif

Laam

Qaf

Meem

Ya

Seen

Toin

Ra ( = 200). Adding the numerical values of these letters we have:

50 + 1 + 30 + 100 + 40 + 10 + 60 + 9 + 200 = 500.

Remove one zero from 500 we are left with 50 (Numerical Value of

letter Noon

Connecting these 9 letters with light or guidance. Remove the second

zero and we are left with 5 for the missing letters of Muqattaat. If we

think about it, if the opening letters of the 29 chapters did not have

special meanings, then there was no reason for including them in

Page 14: Meaning of 5074

verses. Having found the missing 5 letters we have come back full circle

to 14 letters between the two  where this article started.

Finally to sum up, . Noon Talking about Light and Guidance look at the

underlined words above. If Adam () read them in his time the words

would apply to him. If the Companions (ra) of the Messenger of Allah

read them during the lifetime of Muhammad , the words would apply to

them. When we read these words, they apply to us. It is in the present

tense. The common factor or link or light between Allah and mankind is

Muhammad  and the Quran. In which there is no doubt. It does not

matter which part of the Quran we recite, Allah Knows. But always

remember to send Blessings on Muhammad, before and after recitation

or Zikr. There is no question of failing to receive the Light.

Only Allah Knows Best.

ZA - THE ARABIC LETTER

INTRODUCTION

The Arabic letter Za () in the Arabic character set is 11.

In the numerical character set, Abjad, Za () has the value of 7.

This article is about the spiritual meaning of the letter Za ().

THE LETTER ZA

The Letter Za ( ) has a numerical value of 7. There are three Chapters in

the Quran which are named with the initial Letter Za ( ) in their names.

These three Chapters are:

1 - Chapter 7539 Verses

2 - Chapter 8943 Verses

3 - Chapter 899 Verses

Zakkee is one of the Attributes of Allah. Zakkee is also one of the

names attributed to Allah's Beloved, Muhammad . We take the first

letter Za from Allah's Attribute Zakkee and we take the first letter Za

from Muhammad's  name Zakkee and we have a pair of Za. What is a

pair?

Pair is Zawj ).

)PAIR OF ZA (

The two Letters Za ( ) equate to 7 + 7 = 14.

In the Quran we find that Chapter 14 is Ibraheem. Ibraheem () was the

father of Ismaeel () and Iss_haaq ().

Page 16: Meaning of 5074

39 "Praise be to Allah who has granted me in old age Ismaeel and

Iss_haaq: for truly my Rabb (Lord) is He the Hearer of Prayer!

[Quran: Ibraheem Chapter 14]

If we look at THE HOLY QURAN commentary by Abdullah Yusuf Ali:

Note 1917: Ibraheem was 100 years old when Iss_haaq was born (Gen.

xxi. 5); and as Ismaeel was 13 years old when Ibraheem was 99. (Gen.

xvii. 24-25), Ismaeel was also a son of his father's old age, having been

born when Abraham was 86 years old. The younger son's progeny

developed the Faith of Israel and that of Christ; the elder son's progeny

perfected the more universal Faith of Islam, the Faith of Ibraheem the

Hanif (True). (14.39)

Ismaeel (as) was born when Ibraheem (as) was 86 years old (8 + 6 =

14).

Iss_haaq () was born when Ibraheem (as) was 100.

The difference between the age of the two brothers was 14 years

(double Za - ).

From the Quran Hadees and history we find that Ibraheem (as) left his

wife Hajara (as) and son Ismaeel (as) in the desert at the place which is

now Makkah. Hajara (as) prayed to Allah for water....

.......Jibreel hit the earth with his heel like this (Ibn Abbas hit the earth

with his heel to illustrate it), and so the water gushed out. Ismaeel's

mother was astonished and started digging. (Abu Al Qasim) (i.e. the

Prophet) said, "If she had left the water, (flow naturally without her

intervention), it would have been flowing on the surface of the

earth.")......

And that well still exists to this day better known as  .

Page 17: Meaning of 5074

ZAM-ZAM

From pair of Letters Za ( ).

We arrived at two more Letters which are a pair of Meem () and we

haveZam-zam.

(Abu Jamra Ad Dabi said:) I used to sit with Ibn Abbas in Mecca. Once I

had a fever and he said (to me), "Cool your fever with Zam-zam water,

for Rasool Allah said: 'It (the fever) is from the heat of the (Hell) Fire;

so, cool it with water (or Zam-zam water).' "[Sahih Bukhari]

Allah has blessed that well of Zam-zamZam-Zam. So how can the water

of not be special ? Allah wanted Muhammad's ancestors to live there.

And Allah chose that place for His first House of worship.

After centuries, Allah sent the same Jibreel (as) to the same place

(Makkah) to reveal the Quran to His Chosen One, Muhammad whose

name has two Meems ().

PAIR OF MEEM ()

From double ( ) to Zam-zam

From  to double Meem ().

If we look at the word Zam-zam it is Double Zam ( ) ! Or a pair of Zam

And what is Zam ?

We have to keep in mind, that Allah is the same Allah, during the time

of Ibraheem (as) and Ismaeel (as).

Allah is the same Allah, during the time of Muhammad .

Allah is the same Allah even today. There is no change in Him. He

always existed. And He will always exist. Everything else will perish.

To show the beauty of the Quran, Kalaam Allah and its divine nature:

Zam is : 40 + 7 = = 47

What is the name of Chapter 47 in the Quran ? MUHAMMAD.

In the water from Zam-zam there are healing qualities. In the Quran

there are healing qualities.

Zam-zam was made available to Ismaeel (as) and his descendants as a

Mercy from Allah. The Quran has been revealed as a Mercy and Healing

for the Believers. But Muhammad has been sent as a Mercy to all the

worlds from Allah, the Rabb (Lord) of all the worlds.

of Allah.

RETURNING TO THE NUMBER 7

Finally, let us look at the number 7 the numerical value of Za ( ).

What is so special about the number 7 ?

Why do most people feel that the number 7 is Lucky ?

One of the reasons is that there are 7 openings in the human head.

Subconsciously most people associate the number 7 with those

openings in the head without realising.

It is through these 7 openings we tend to take in the majority of

information. The information can be good or evil.

We have to guard ourselves against the evil.

That is the physical aspect for this world. And this is explained by Allah

in the Quran as follows :

42

"For over My servants no authority shall you have except such as put

themselves in the wrong and follow you."

43 44 [Quran: Al Hijr Chapter 15]

How does Shaytan try and lead us astray ?

By making us use our 7 openings in the head for evil purposes.

Everything in the Quran has relevance to this world and there is a

spiritual side to the meaning of the Quran in the next world.

There are 7 other gates (or openings) that Allah has given to the

Muslims.

That is the Al Fatihah, Chapter 1 of the Quran.

Page 19: Meaning of 5074

87 We have given you seven of the most repeated (verses) and the

great Quran.[Quran Al Hijr Chapter 15]

Salah - The five daily prayers are not accepted by Allah unless we recite

these 7 most repeated verses in every Rakah.

And finally how do we do Sajdah (prostrate) to Allah ?

By touching 7 parts of the body on the ground.

The toes of both feet, both the knees, the palms of both hands and the

forehead which include the tip of the nose.

And after each Rakah, there is double Sajdah. Or a pair of Sajdah. That

is touching the 7 parts of the human body on the ground. That is 2 x 7

parts of the body touching the ground. We are back full circle to PAIR

OF ZA ( ).

May Allah have Mercy on us all and guide us to the AmeenSirat al

Mustaqeem.

Only Allah Knows Best.

The Arabic letter Dal () has no equivalent sounding letter in the English

alphabet. The nearest sound is TH in the word THE.

The position of the letter Dal ( ) in the Abjad, has the value of 4.

In the normal Arabic character set, Dal is the 8th letter.

Holy Quran 8:4 Such in truth are the believers (Muminoon): they have

grades of dignity with their Rabb (Lord) and forgiveness and generous

sustenance.

[Quran: Al-Anfal Chapter 8]

This article is about the spiritual meaning of the letter Dal ( ).

INTRODUCTION

Page 21: Meaning of 5074

The letter Dal () is not one of the letters in the verse Bismillah. Neither

is it one of theMuqattaat (abbreviated) letters used in the opening of

certain chapters in the Quran.

The letter Dal () comes first in the Attribute of Allah, which is Daiem

-  The One Who Exists Forever. {Eternally Allah and Eternally

Muhammad Rasul Allah}

In the name Muhammad , it comes last.

Whereas the letter Meem () is the last letter in the Name Daiem and it

is the first letter in the name Muhammad .

In the name Adam  () the letter Dal () is the middle letter.

In the Abjad format, the letter Dal () is the fourth letter and given the

value 4.

In the normal Arabic character set it is the 8th letter. { 4 Hold The

Throne in Akhira , 8 on Judgment Day}

THE LETTER DAL

The Arabic letter Dal ( ) is the first letter in the Attribute DaieM, the last

letter in the nameMuhammaD and the middle or centre letter of the

name Adam.

What is the significance of the letter Dal ( ) ? The letter Dal ( )

represents a Dairah .

A Dairah is a circle.

Everything in existence is made of circles.

The sun, the moon, the planets, and the stars are circular.

They are all round.

The orbits, of the planets, the orbits of the galaxies are all Dairahs,

circles.

If we look at the atoms, they are also circular.

If we further look at our lives, our patterns of existence, they are all

circular. And also, we come from Allah and to Allah is our return.

Even this is a complete Dairah or circle or revolution for us.

DAIRAH (CIRCLE of Creation)

A Dairah  is a circle. A circle consists of 360 degrees.

Page 22: Meaning of 5074

First, what are degrees?

In Arabic they are Darajat or Ranks.

Even in spiritual circles there are 360 degrees or ranks.

Darajat (degrees) are grades. Darajat are ranks.

In Dunya you come as a "4 " seek Ya [Knowledge] then you will be

inheriting from the 4x10= 40's The Muhammadan Representatives

[Meem=40].

The Shaykhs of Tariqa "40"

There are "9" Sultan alDhikr Awliya "9" In Fusion X "40" = "360" [Circle

of Creation]

These "9" are The Most powerful Mem's they expanded [ Mem-  Expands

to M =40 , Ya=10, M=40- "90" or Sad ]

They reached Higher Levels and are the Meem Who are Sad= 90 or the

Great Siddiq's of which they are "4" X "90" = "360"

Known as 1)Sayedena Abu Bakr, 2)Sayedena Omar, 3)Sayedena Othman

and 4) Sayedena Ali (Ra).

"4" Valves of the Heart , "4" Corners of Kabba, "4" Arc Angels, "4"

Eternal Forces in the Atom, "4" Elements of all creation Earth Wind

Water Fire,

Why is it 360 degrees or grades or ranks?

Why not 300 degrees or 400 degrees?

Since 360 is nearer to 400 than it is to 300, there is something

interesting about that!

 than 400360 is

can we say it is Meem () less than 400?

In other words, Has the numerical value of Meem been multiplied 10

times (40 x 10 = 400) and then the value of ONE Meem been taken

away (400 - 40) to arrive at 360?

Since the numerical value of the letter Meem () is 40.

The other interesting point about all this is that the numerical value of

the letter Meem () is 10 times the numerical value of the letter Dal ( ).

Where did the letter Meem come into all this?

There are 40 Maqaams (stations) in the spiritual journey.

And what is the spiritual journey? It is the search for Allah in this world.

Page 23: Meaning of 5074

That is what Musa () went through on the Mount Tur for 40 (Meem)

days.

That is why the letter Meem () Meem Has "The ROPE of Allah" for you to

Hold. Means Hold Tight To Sayedena Muhammad {s}. Holy

Quran  which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among

yourselves; and remember with gratitude Allah.s favou1033r. or 40

comes from in this case.

Like it or not, there is no avenue open without the letter Meem ().

More will be said about the missing 40 Darajat or ranks at the end of

this article...

, or 40, as our starting point. (circle), as the number of degrees in a

circle (360) are 40 less than 400, let us take Coming back to the

If we divide 360 by 40:

360 divided by 40 = 9

we get a perfect 9 without any remainder or fraction.

Or looking at it another way

40 x 9 = 360 degrees in a circle.{ 40 Golden Chain Shaykhs in Fusion X

The 9 Sultan Dhikr Shaykh = 360 }

We took a circle 360, divided it by 40 and ended with 9.

The letter with the numerical value of 9 is Toin ().

We have the STARTING letter Meem () and the ENDING letter Toin ().

EXISTENCE

Everything we see in this world is a living thing.

Everything is created out of atoms. {or a DOT under the BA}

Whether it is an animal, plant or even a stone.

Each thing is created out of atoms.

Every atom has electrons circulating the nucleus. The only difference is

the bonding energy between the atoms. We can pinch and deform the

human skin. Pinching a stone has no marked effect. Nevertheless,

everything with electrons has the gift of life from Allah.

This gift comes from the Attribute Hayy from Allah. Hayy is

spelt Ha =8 () andYa=10()=18 . This gift from Allah is IN everything.

Only, we do not perceive it.

THE LIMITED

If we now place this Attribute IN the middle of Meem () and Toin () we

arrive atMuheet .

Page 24: Meaning of 5074

The One who Encompasses everything. { The Universal Being}

The One who surrounds everything.

The One who gives life to everything. This is an analogy.

All created things are limited. Dairahs.

Circles. Allah on the other hand is Unlimited. Everything is within His

grasp or His control. There is no escape for anyone or anything from

Allah.

54 Indeed! are they in doubt concerning the Meeting with their Rabb

(Lord)? Indeed! it is He that does encompass all things!

[Quran: Ha Meem Chapter 41]

Dairahs, circles are limitations. { Allah can not be found inside a Circle,

Allah Owns the Circle but His RasulALLAH is inside the Circle repeating

Him}

The limitation is not just our physical size.

This limitation is also our earthly lifespan.

This limitation is also our mental aptitude. This limitation is existence

with respect to time and place. Everything is limited in every way

possible.

Only Allah is Unlimited. What about The Unlimited?

THE UNLIMITED

Allah on the other hand is not limited by physical size. Direction does

not apply to Allah. Allah is not limited by time or place or condition.

None of these can be applied to Allah. He is ‘above' all these. By ‘above'

it is implied that Allah is not restricted in any way or condition or

circumstance or time or place. Since Allah is beyond a Dairah how do

we understand Him?

If we go back to the Dairah (circle), we again have 360 Darajat (or

degrees). Divide that by the numerical value of the letter Dal ( ) which

has the numerical value 4. Since the word Dairah starts with the letter

Dal ( ).

360 divided by 4 = "90"

Page 25: Meaning of 5074

The result above is 90 which is the numerical value of the

letter Saad ()Siddiqiun

Importance of 4= 4 Caliphs , 4 Arch Angels, 4 Valves on Heart, 4

Corners of Kaaba 4 letters Allh 4 letters MHMD, created from 4

Elements, 4 Takbirs.

The letter Saad () when written as pronounced gives us the WORD:

Saad ( ). We started with letter Dal ( ) and we ended up with the

letter Dal () in the word Saad .

There is a clue here.

The Attribute Daiem starts with the letter Dal ( ). and name

Muhammad  ends with the letter Dal ( ).

Since we are looking for CIRCULAR patterns, Daiem ends {Akhira is a

Mirror} with the letterMeem () and the name Muhammad  begins with

the letter Meem (). Remember? There is no avenue open

without Meem ()! S

Since the letter Dal ( ) and the letter Meem () are either at the

beginning or the end in the names MuhammadDaiem

We have just derived the letter Saad () .

The letter Dal ( ) was the starting point to arrive at the letter Saad () .

Therefore, let us replace the letter Alif ( ) in the word Saad ( ) with the

letterMeem ().

We arrive at the word Samad ( ).

This Attribute, Samad means Eternal.

Without beginning without end.

Without any limitation. This is the Gift from Allah to the Souls of

Creation Ever Living All Hearing All Seeing Sustence only from Allah,

Sub Atomic Energy in you or Soul or Quantum Physics the property of

Light is Timeless.

Alternative, since Allah is Muheet  the One who surrounds, let us

replace the letter Alif ( ) in the word Saad ( ) with the first letter

of Muheet - Meem ( ).

Again we arrive at Allah's Attribute Samad. The One who is not limited

by time or place or condition. We started with a limitation and arrived

at the Unlimited.{ Alif Gift to Muhammadan Reality is the Power of the

Soul,

2 ALLAH HUS SAMAD

[Quran: Ikhlas Chapter 112]

DUNYA (WORLD) or DNA

Dunya ,{65}  the world, our world is made up of four general elements.

The numerical value of the letter Dal ( ) is also 4.

These elements are Fire, Earth, Water and Air.

These four general elements are derived from the combination of the

rest of the elements that are in existence in this world .

The Earth that we live on, rotates around its own axis one complete

revolution per day.

This one complete revolution per day of the Earth (which is also

a Dairah) a Dairah takes 24 hours. {MEEM 24th letter in dunya

arangement, Rasul is Time}

To determine the time taken by the Earth to turn just one degree on its

axis is: 24 / 360

24 hours DIVIDED BY 360 = 0.0666666666666666666666 RECURRING TO

INFINITY!

If we convert this into minutes: (24 X 60) / 360 = 4

24 hours MULTIPLIED BY 60 minutes DIVIDED BY 360 degrees = 4

minutes.

Page 27: Meaning of 5074

For the Earth to revolve 1 degree on its own axis is 4 minutes which is

the numerical value of the letter Dal ( ). So, what is this place

called Dunya?

? ( ). So, what is this place called which is the numerical value of the

letter For the Earth to revolve

is basically a place of limitations.Dunya

Dunya is where everything is a Dairah (Dal - ).

It is a place where we must seek the Noor or Light (Noon - )

of the Knowledge (Ya - )

before returning to Allah (Alif - )

in the Akhirah (afterlife). How do we find this Light?

201 And there are men who say: "Rabbana (Our Lord)! give us good in

this world and good in the Hereafter and defend us from the torment of

the fire!"

[Quran: Al Baqara Chapter 2]

DEEN

The Light is Deen . Deen is religion.

Our religion is Islam. Deen (religion) and Dunya (world) are inter

related.

Deen takes precedence over Dunya when we have already arrived in

this Dunya (world).

Dunya is the place to practice Deen.

Deen is a circle as well.

We have to repeat the same patterns per day, per month, per year.

And the Islamic months and years are based on the circular patterns of

the Moon.

The word Deen is basically following the Dairah (Dal - ), Circle or

pattern .

Learning the knowledge (Ya - ) and

following the Light (Noon - ). In our case, the Light is Quran and

Sunnah. And we have inherited the Light which is the Quran and the

Sunnah from the Last Nabee (Messenger)

Muhammad . Darood (Blessings) and Salaam (peace) on Muhammad .

Page 28: Meaning of 5074

DAROOD

The word Darood starts with the letter Dal ( ) and ends with the

letter Dal ( ).

What is Darood? Darood is sending Blessings on Muhammad .

There are many different Darood. Each one is precious in its own right.

Saying the Darood brings Allah's pleasure on the one who is sending

blessings on Allah's Beloved. Saying the Darood brings assistance from

Allah in times of need.

Saying the Darood brings the vision of Muhammad  in a dream. And

whoever has seen Muhammad  in a dream, has really seen him. Shaytan

(Satan) cannot take the form of Muhammad .

Whenever we do Zikr (meditation with the Name or Attribute of) Allah,

we are advised by all pious people to start with Darood. At the end

of Zikr Allah, Darood should be recited once again. Why? Why not just

at the beginning or just the end?

Simple. We have to complete a circle. We have to form a Dairah. Not in

the physical sense, but in the spiritual sense. How can that be true?

Look at the Tasbih, or rosary or 'worry beads'. Do we not start at one

end and complete a full circle? Even while we are doing Zikr Allah, we

are forming circles. The Zikr Allah forms a Dairah ('ring') around the one

doing Zikr. Shaytan (Satan) is kept outside this Dairah (circle).

DARAJAT (RANKS)

Going back to the Darajat, degrees or ranks.

What are these Darajat? If we go back to the position of the

letter Dal ( ) in the normal Arabic character set, it is 8.

Therefore let us look at Chapter 8 in the Quran and pick verse 4 for the

numerical value of the letter Dal ( ) is 4. We find...

4

[Quran: Al-Anfal Chapter 8]

From this verse, it can be seen, that the believers have different grades

before Allah.

Not all believers have the same grade.

The believers can be categorised in one of the 360 Darajat or degrees

or ranks.

Page 29: Meaning of 5074

Earlier on we did find that 360 was 40 or Meem () short of 400.

Why are there only 360 degrees and not 400?

The answer to this puzzle is in Chapter 40 of the Quran Majeed because

we are Meem (- 40) less than 400.

Or to look at it at another way if we increase the numerical value of the

letter Dal ( ) tenfold we have 4 x 10YA = 40. You could say, we

have Magnified the value by 10 which is the numerical value of the

letter Ya - , which represents Knowledge.

Or to look at it in yet another way, the word Muminoon is used in the

above verse instead ofMuslimon. There is no chapter with the name

Muslim in the Quran! Furthermore, anyone who accepts the Message LA

ILAHA ILL ALLAH MUHAMMADUR RASOOL ALLAH is a Muslim. Mu'min on

the other hand is a Muslim whose belief or faith (Iman) is superior or

unshakeable. Therefore the answer is in Chapter 40 which is

named Muumin.

15 Rafi ud Darajat (The Exalter of Ranks), the Lord of the Throne. He

casts the Spirit of His command upon whom He will of His servants, that

He may warn of the Day of Meeting [Quran: Al-Mu_min Chapter 40]

From here it can be seen why there are only 360 Darajat and not 400.

The missing 40 have been reserved for Muhammad .

Allah and the angels shower blessings on the Nabee (Muhammad ).

Allah the Creator is Rafi ud Darajat (The Exalter of Ranks) and the

Highest Rank or Darajatthat He has created and Exalted is

Insan ul Kamil (the Perfect Man).

Muhammad  is the INSAN UL KAMIL - The Perfect Man.

No one attained that position before him. And no one will attain that

position after him.

But... where did 360 Degrees or Ranks or Darajat come from in the first

place?

360 DARAJAT

Where did the 360 degrees or Darajat come from?

Page 30: Meaning of 5074

How was it decided to have 360 degrees or ranks?

We need to rephrase the last question and ask ourselves: "WHO

decided it should be 360 degrees?

The answer to the last question is: ALLAH decided it should be 360

degrees and not 400.

" He taught Adam all the names "

Allah wanted to reserve the 40 for His Beloved, our Master,

Muhammad .

Well, the last verse from the Quran:

Rafi ud Darajat15

clearly confirms there are 360 degrees, ranks, grades or Darajat.

Where? How?

The Attribute RAFI is the answer!

Letter Ra

 - = 200

Letter Fa Letter  Ya Letter  Ayn -  = 70

Add the numerical values of the above letters of the Attribute RAFI we

have:

200 + 80 + 10 + 70 = 360.

In a previous section of this article we looked at how our Earth rotates 1

degree in 4 minutes.

If we divide 360 degrees with the above verse number we have:

360 divided by 15 = 24.

We come back to the 24 hours in a day. The time taken by the Earth to

revolve 360 degrees on its own axis.

Only Allah Knows Best.

Al Hamdu Lillah Rabbil Alameen. All praise is for God, the Rabb of the

worlds. Blessings on Muhammad , his family, and his companions. Allah

in His infinite Generosity has permitted me to write a little about each

of the letters in the name of His Beloved Muhammad .
