Page 1: Meanwhile in limbo

Meanwhile In LimboFollowing, once again, a certain Lexi

Carter. This time, she remains unaware that I am watching her family.

Page 2: Meanwhile in limbo

You all remember Lexi, I assume. An illegitimate love child, taken from her mother’s arms the night she was born, not to be seen again.

Or so you thought.

Lexi herself holds very little historical significance, except that she always seemed (during this time period, at least) to be a direct eyewitness to almost everything. This is not her story, for that very reason. Lexi has no story. All she does is watch.

Page 3: Meanwhile in limbo

A child is hardly news on this island. Single parents are an even older story. No—the surprise in all observers of the tiny house on the edge of Bluewater before the Great Flood rested in that there was only ONE child.

That was unheard of. Almost cruel; children were supposed to come in bunches. Why, the poor thing Alex Carter had brought home had only an Isles Corgi* pup for company.

*(Sims have never been to Wales. Okay, the whole island is very loosely based on Great Britain, but it’s not called that. So, Isles Corgi instead of Welsh Corgi.)

Page 4: Meanwhile in limbo

An unremarkable child. Standard Phantasma genetics, nearly identical to her massive heap of cousins and siblings. Tanned skin, blue eyes, brown hair. She could be anyone.

Except that she remains the only child, adopted or otherwise, of a shopkeeper rapidly moving his way to prosperity and beyond.

The flood came and wiped Bluewater clean. No one noticed, really. A complete architectural redesigning was the only physical clue. That, and a new name: Phantom Beach and Company.

Lexi, in her new home, undisturbed, was quickly picking up Alex’s flair for business. Though unable to make much money yet, she was looking forward to a very successful future.

Meanwhile, Alex was getting his groove on with a spare single mom (left over from creating teenage soulmates for dating purposes). No one was quite sure if Gwen had moved in or not, but she certainly spent a lot of time at the Carter household.

Page 6: Meanwhile in limbo

Lexi barely noticed Gwen; who could notice someone who spent so much time in the master bedroom instead of in the parlor like a normal, sociable person?

She got the shock of her life, though, when Alex brought home a young teen girl, who claimed to have washed up during the flood. Anyone would notice a sudden older sister moving into a bedroom they’ve had to themselves for nine years.

That being said, Blythe and Lexi got along relatively well. Though quite different in age, the girls shared mysterious origins and a taste for the finer things in life.

Page 7: Meanwhile in limbo

Very shortly after Blythe’s mysterious appearance, Alex and Gwen were standing in the backyard to tie the knot; the reason for the rush readily apparent in Gwen’s swollen appearance.

(Discontinuity in pics: the wedding took two takes, as Gwen decided to give birth between posing for Take 1 and actually getting married. See next slide.)

Page 8: Meanwhile in limbo

Aaron and Benny, twin boys, nearly identical, were welcomed into the world. Lexi didn’t care much for him, but since Blythe, Alex, and Gwen all doted over the little ones, no one else noticed.

The boys have always been very nearly identical, except that Aaron has grey eyes and Benny has green. Their purpose comes later; “Project Carter” due out when I actually get to writing it.

Page 9: Meanwhile in limbo

Autumn came with the move back to the original isle, away from the prone-to-flooding old Bluewater site. The rich and patchworked family took to playing; the again-expecting Gwen enjoying the leaves just as much as the boys, but rebellious Lexi opting for puddles instead.

Lexi was indeed feeling rebellious. She’s been alone for so long with Alex; the intrusion of Gwen, Blythe, Benny, Aaron, and this New Child Who Is Presumably Just As Bad in combination with the eve of her teen years was starting to cause minor stirs of trouble.

Page 10: Meanwhile in limbo

Blythe was not half so disturbed. A peaceful teen by any standard, she spent a lot of her time painting, mostly portraits of Benny and Aaron, both adorable and reasonably willing subjects.

In all truth, I was just killing time so she could go to college with Lexi. The pair, in combination with a heap of other young Phantasmas, would fit in perfectly at the actual-playing-time recently opened Phantasma University.

Page 11: Meanwhile in limbo

Lexi’s birthday finally rolled around. I needed her and Blythe deported to college, and fast—their bedroom was the one the Carters intended to put the newest baby, due any day, in.

I think I may have made her Fortune. Lexi did not spend long as a teen, or long in college, and had her aspiration swapped an almost shameful amount in effort to give her a story that never quite happened.

Still, I can think of worse fates…like what happened to that poor son of hers. Maybe we can visit in a few updates, after we cover the rest of the island…

Page 12: Meanwhile in limbo

Lexi went to college in company with Blythe, Arthur, two young blonde twins with the gift of

magic (who will be mentioned later) and a custom boyfriend. She never did develop a

story, and is still just sort of a rock in the center of the wild maelstrom of siblings, friends, and children getting into trouble.

This is not the end of the Carters by any means. The next feature chapter should be

Project Carter, after the other needed updates so that time flows in a reasonably logical (if

not all that believable) manner.
