TheEF10ultrasonicflowmeterisdesignedtobeinstalledatafixedlocationforlong-termflowmeasurementonaclosedpipecarryingpureliquidsorliquidswithsomesuspendedparticles.EF10canbeequippedwithclamp-onorwetted(insertionorflow-cell)typetransducerstomeetvariousapplicationchallenges.

Non-intrusive. Non-obstructiveWithclamp-ontransducers,theinstallationbecomesverysimpleandeasy.Nopipeworkisrequiredandthereisnoriskofleakingorcontamination.Withwettedtransducers,thereisnoobstructiontotheflow,thus,thereisnopressuredrop.

Economical to Operate. Economical to OwnTheultrasonictransducersaremadefromcrystal,andtherearenomovingpartstowearandtear.Thewholemetersystemiscompletelysolidstate,andtherefore,theEF10isbotharobustandreliablesystem.Itdoesnotrequiremaintenanceordowntimewhicheliminatesanypotentialincurredcosts.

ThesensorsarecommonlymountedwiththeZ-methodortheV-method.WiththeZ-meth-od,thetwosensorsareinstalledonoppositesideofapipe.Thismethodoffersshortersoundpath,thus,bettersignalstrength.Itisoftenusedforlargesizepipeswheresignalstrengthismoreimportant.WiththeV-meth-od,thetwosensorsareinstalledonthesamesideofthepipe.Thesoundpathisdoubled,andasaresult,themeasurementaccuracyisbetter.Thismethodisoftenusedforsmallandmediumsizepipes.

Forinsertionandflow-celltypetransducers,however,onlytheZ-methodisused.

TheEnduroFlowTMSeriesflowmetersarebasedonthetransit-timemeasurementprinciple.Thesystemutilizesapairofsen-sors(AandBinfigurebelow)thatfunctionasbothultrasonictransmitterandreceiver.Thesensorsareinstalledonthepipewall,eitherclampedontheoutsideofthepipeorinsertedintothepipeataspecificdistancefromeachother,andtheflowmeteroperatesbyalternatelytransmittingandreceivingacodedburstofsoundenergybetweenthosetwosensorsandmeasuringthetransittimeittakesforsoundtotravelbetweenthetwosensors.Thedifferenceinthetransittimeisdirectlyrelatedtothevelocityoftheliquidinthepipe.Theflowrateisthencalculatedbasedonthetransit-timedifference,thegeometryofthepipeandthefluiddynamicsformula.

• Ifthereisavalveupstreamandthevalveisnotfullyopen,itcouldgenerateflowdisturbance.Alongerupstreamstraightpipeisrecommended.

• Ifthereisapumpupstream,werecommendtohave25Dstraightpiperun.• Ifthepipeisvertical,makesuretheflowisgoingupward,notdownward.Downwardflowcouldhaveairgapsiftheflowisfreefall.

• Ifthepipeishorizontal,makesurethepipeisfull!Thetransducersshouldbeinstalledonthesideofthepipe,notonthetoporbottomofthepipe.
