Measuring social outcomes allows us to know and show our work (or our investment) is making a difference for individuals and communities.

Australia’s social sector and its funders have recognised this and are working to get to grips with it. For example, state governments are developing outcomes frameworks for commissioning and purchasing, foundations are allocating resources on the basis of outcomes, and corporates are seeking to better understand the impact of their community investments.

This conference will explore this and how organisations can measure their outcomes most effectively. It will focus, in particular, on how organisations can take the next steps in their measurement journeys.

How to take the next steps in your measurement journey Pre Conference Workshop A Monday 10th November 2014, 9:00am – 4:00pm

You know why measurement’s important, you know about the various approaches and you’ve started measuring. So where to from here?

To this workshop, that’s where!

How to embed measurement in For-Purpose organisations Post Conference Workshop C Thursday 13th November 2014, 9:00am – 4:00pm

Not-for-profit organisations (NFPs) are rebranding as “For Purpose” organisations – which better reflects their mission driven nature. Funding the delivery of activities and measuring the performance of NFPs using financial metrics on an annual basis are inadequate. For purpose organisations need to measure and report the most important aspect of their performance – the achievement of real long term outcomes for individuals and communities. Organisations need to change their systems, work practices and culture. For-Purpose organisations will be defined by being client centric and having clear outcomes which are measured over the medium and long terms.

Why attend this workshop?• Learn how to construct and measure outcomes for your organisation and

its programs • Learn how to use outcome measurement to access alternative sources of

funding including social finance• Learn how to embed outcome measurement in your organisation to

improve your organisational performance and sustainability

What you will take away by attending• A toolkit for developing an outcome measurement framework and

measuring outcomes• Insights from a range of organisational case studies • The evidence why your organisations should invest in outcomes

measurement
