VERY IMPORTANT: The question paper consists of 1 sections ( Section-1 contains Physics .).Please fill the OMR answer Sheet accordingly and carefully.

INSTRUCTIONS

Each Section contains (12 questions in Part-D ).Please ensure that the Question Paper you have received contains ALL THE QUESTIONS in each Sectionand PAGES. If you found some mistake like missing questions or pages then contact immediately to theInvigilator.

PART-D

1. Q.1 to Q.12 are "Subjective" questions ( whose answers are upto 4 digit ) and carry 6 markseach. There is NO NEGATIVE marking. Marks will be awarded only if correct bubbles arefilled in your OMR sheet.

2. Indicate the correct answer for each question by filling appropriate bubble in your answersheet.

3. Use of Calculator, Log Table, Slide Rule and Mobile is not allowed.

4. The answers of the questions must be marked by shading the circle against the question by dark HB pencil only.

NOTE: General instructions for Filling the OMR are given on the LAST PAGE.

PART-D[SUBJECTIVE]

Q.1 to Q.12 are "Subjective" type questions. (The answer to each of the questions are upto 4 digit )

Q.1 A man hangs from the midpoint of a rope 10m long, the ends of which are tied to two light ringswhich are free to move on a horizontal fixed rod (see fig.). What is the maximum possible separation

d (in cm) of the rings when the man is hanging in equilibrium, if the relevant coefficient of staticfriction is 0.75?

Q.2 A small ball of mass 2g is attached to a string of length ! whose other end is fastened to an uprightvertical rod fixed on a wooden board resting on a horizontal table. The combined mass of theboard and rod is 1kg. The friction coefficient between the board and the table is µ. The ball isreleased from rest with the string in a horizontal position. It hits the vertical rod in a completelyinelastic collision. While the ball swings, the board does not move.

m

What is minimum value that µ must have to prevent the board from moving to the left while theball swings down ? Using necessary approximation, express your answer as x × 10 – 3 and fillvalue of x in OMR sheet.

Q.3 A uniform rod AB of length 32 m and mass 12 kg is thrown such that just after the projectionthe centre of mass of the rod moves vertically upwards with a velocity 10 m/s and at the sametime it is rotating with an angular velocity ! rad/s about a horizontal axis passing through its midpoint. Just after the road is thrown it is horizontal and is as shown in the figure. Find the acceleration(in m/sec 2 ) of the point A, when the centre of mass is at the highest point.(Take g = 10 m/s 2, ! 2 =10 Neglect effect of air)

http://manishkumarphysics.in/ Q.4 Two blocks of mass m 1 = 2 kg and m 2 = 1 kg are connected by an ideal spring, rest on a rough

horizontal surface. The spring in unstretched. The spring constant of spring is 8 N/m. the coefficientof friction between blocks and horizontal surface is µ = 0.8 Now the left block is imparted avelocity u towards right as shown. The largest value of u (in m/s) such that the block of mass m 2never move is

If u is represented by k 5 , then k is given by. (g =10 m/s 2).

Q.5 A uniform chain of length L has one of its end attached to the wall at point A, while4L3

of the

length of the chain is lying on table as shown in figure. The minimum coefficient of friction

between table and chain so that chain remains in equilibrium is4n

. Find the value of n.

Q.6 A particle is projected at an angle of 45 ° from a point lying 2 m from the foot of a wall. It justtouches the top of the wall and falls on the ground 4 m from it. The height of the wall is x then 3xwill be

Q.7 Two towns A and B are connected by a regular bus servi ce wi th a bus leaving in either directionevery T minutes. A man cycling wi th speed of 20km/h in the direction A to B, noti ces that a busgoes past him every t 1 = 18 minutes in the direction of motion, and every t 2 = 6 minutes in theopposite direction. If time period of Bus service is T, then find T.Assume that velocity of cyclist is less than velocity of bus.

Q.8 In the arrangement shown in figure, there is friction between the blocksof masses m and 2m which are in contact. The ground is smooth. Themass of the suspended block is m. The block of mass m which is kepton mass 2m is stationary with respect to block of mass 2 m. The force

of friction between m and 2m isx

mg, then find the value of x.

Q.9 A particle of mass m = 0.1 kg is released from rest from a point A of wedge of mass M = 2.4 kg free to slide on a frictionless horizontal plane. The particle slides down the smooth face AB of the wedge. When the velocity of the wedge is 0.2 m/s the velocity of the particle in m/s

relative to the wedge is 3 x, then find the value of x.

http://manishkumarphysics.in/ Q.10 Two blocks (from very far apart) are approaching towards

each other with velocities as shown in figure. The coefficientof friction for both the blocks is " = 0.2Linear momentum of the system is conserved till time x second, then the value of x.

Q.11 In a circus act, a 4 kg dog is trained to jump from B cart to A cart and then immediately back to theB cart. The carts each have a mass of 20 kg and they are initially at rest. In both cases the dog

jumps at 6 m/s relative to the cart. If the cart moves along the same line with negligible friction,If the final magnitude of velocity of cart B with respect to the floor is X/36 fill x in your answersheet.

Q.12 A solid cylinder C and a hollow pipe P of same diameter are in contact when they are releasedfrom rest as shown in the figure on a long incline plane. Cylinder C and pipe P roll without

slipping. Determine the clear gap (in m) between them after 6 seconds.
