Underwater WarfareUnderwater Warfare includes the design and delivery of a game changing naval Integrated Sonar System (ISS), hull mounted anti-submarine warfare sonar system, towed array sonar systems, surface ship and submarine torpedo defence and countermeasures, and distributed anti-submarine warfare systems (sonobuoys).

Through-life Support SolutionsThrough-life Support Solutions are also part of our offering and includes contractor logistics support, waterfront support, spares and inventory management and technology refresh of own and third party systems.

LandLand involves vision systems, turret servo control and the capability to implement improvements and upgrades across all electronic systems for armoured fighting vehicles.

C4ISRC4ISR focuses on data link systems, deployable Air Command and Control, and complex surveillance and security solutions for maritime surface, underwater and land borders.

Career Development

Ultra Command & Sonar Systems Engineers Competency Framework is based on competencies defined by the Engineering Council.

We operate a Mature Engineering Competency Framework to help identify development opportunities, training and career next steps. With opportunities to work in other functions or departments, such as Project Management, your experience can be broadened at an accelerated rate. Regular 1-2-1 sessions, annual training reviews and mentoring is available to all engineers. We support and encourage your career advancement.

A diverse range of programmes covering multiple disciplines and technical expertise offer fresh challenges and, with our increasing R & D budget, new cutting edge projects are always being added.

Within Command & Sonar Systems, engineers can take a project all the way through its lifecycle; from inception, bid, design and delivery, through to support.

Our Graduate Scheme

A flexible system of placements to enable you to build experience across the business. You will work with your mentor and line manager to plan and undertake up to 5 placements within the business over the course of 2 years. These placements could range from deep technical roles in research and development through to business roles within our programmes team.

Continuous feedback and performance coaching from your line manager and placement supervisors to support you in your development.

A competitive salary depending upon skills and experience.

6 monthly pay review.

Mentoring from a senior engineer outside your direct management structure.
