Are you looking for summer research opportunities?

Check out the 2016 Nebraska Summer Research Pro-

gram at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The pro-

gram offers students an excellent opportunity to hone

research skills and to experience life as a graduate stu-

dent. Students will enhance their academic resume, work closely with faculty and peers, and have fun with

social and professional development activities, all while receiving numerous benefits. Students historically

underrepresented in graduate education are especially encouraged to apply. Due to funding restrictions, partic-

ipation is limited to U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents (those holding a green card.)

All programs for 2016 are listed at unl.edu/summerprogram and include projects in Biochemistry, Plant

Science/Pathology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical En-

gineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Microbiology, Mechanical Engineering, Nanoscience & Nano-

technology, Optics and Laser Physics, Psychology, Redox Biology, Sociology, and Virology.

Our online application makes it easy for students to apply for up to three different research groups. Priority

review of applications begins Monday, February 1 and all applications are due by Monday, March 1.

Summer research and internship opportunities!

The NEON Internship Program is designed to provide qualified undergraduates with real-world sum-

mer work experience in their chosen field. Because NEON is an interdisciplinary organization, we accept stu-

dents from a variety of disciplines (e.g., Science, Engineering, Computing). NEON interns are involved with a

variety of projects, from helping to design sensor assemblies to testing sampling protocols and analyzing data.

NEON interns receive a competitive summer salary, housing, and travel to and from Boulder. Our program is

designed to promote student success through mentoring, leadership training, communications workshops and

various professional networking opportunities. We encourage applications from students who are members of

groups underrepresented in the sciences and engineering, first generation to college students, and students who

have limited internship opportunities at their home institutions.

What? A gathering of employers who have full and part time jobs! A great opportunity for students to talk to employers, submit a resume, and interview for a real job.

application for general and departmental scholarships. The scholarship application be-

came available on December 1. APPLICATION DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 14.

The Colorado Environmental Management Society (CEMS)

is pleased to announce the publication of our 2016 scholar-

ship application. Briefly, the eligibility rules for the 2016

CEMS Scholarship are:

Students must be currently enrolled in and attending an undergraduate,

graduate or law program at a Colorado university or college.

Students must be studying engineering, geology, environmental sciences, law, or another field in which they may

address environmental issues.

Students must intend to work in an environmental field.

CEMS will award three (3) scholarships, each for $1,500. The applications are due on March 1, 2016.

Recognizing the role education plays in the lives of its mem-

bers, Grand Valley Power has established a strong scholarship

program. The cornerstone of the program is a four-year renewa-

ble Jack Broughton – CMU Scholarship. Named for the cooper-

ative’s long-time general manager, this four-year award, good

for $1,000 per year, targets deserving students who choose to

stay close to home and attend Grand Junction’s Colorado Mesa

University. Broughton, holder of an engineering degree and a

Masters of Business Administration, helped establish the CU/CMU Mechanical Engineering Program. To hon-

or his legacy, the GVP Board of Directors awards this scholarship to the applicant who best exemplifies Jack’s

practical, no-nonsense approach to getting things done, with preference given to applicants pursuing a me-

SACCOMANNO HIGHER EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP www.saccomannoed.org

The SACCOMANNO HIGHER EDUCATION FOUNDATION was created to promote the educational pur-

suits of students in financial need, thus, enabling them to improve their lives, the lives of their families, and

those of their community. This FOUNDATION encourages applications from individuals regardless of age

and academic accomplishments. Scholarships are granted for use at accredited in-state or out-of-state colleg-

es, universities, and vocational schools.

Basis of Selection : Students must be residents of Mesa County, Colorado, or Carbon County, Utah. Students

must prove financial need.

Faculty Advisors The purpose of a faculty advisor is to assist in the process of degree completion. Students are required to have a facul-ty advisor's signature on their Program Sheet and other graduation paperwork.

Find Your Advisor Your Advisor assignments can be found by running your DegreeWorks report in MavZone. (Note: Dr. Brower is the secondary advisor for all Engineering students. He is the primary advisor only for students in the CU-Boulder BSME degree program.)
