General Maintenance

After each run, disassemble, clean, lubricate, and reassemble the MST. Wash or wipe all wellbore debris from the bushing section and lubricate the bushing with high-temperature grease.

Disassembly

1 Clamp 27EC (2-7/8 Coupler) in vise. Loosen and remove 47MST12 (Stinger Sub). Remove 47MST02 (Stinger Seal) and 030-90D Nitrile (O-Ring).The O-Ring will still be in the Stinger Seal when being removed from the Stinger Sub Body.

2 Remove Stinger Sub Body (47MST09) / Control Latch Sub Assembly from Mandrel. Remove O-Ring (225-90D) and slide Control Latch off Stinger Sub Body.

3 Depress Dog (47MST15) to remove Pins (43MST10). Remove Dog and Springs (47MST16)..

4 Remove Set Screws from Control Nut Sleeve (47MST03) and unscrew Control Nut Sleeve from Drag Block Housing.

5 Remove Cap Screw and unscrew Control Sleeve.

6 Loosen Mandrel from coupling.

7 Disassemble Drag Block (Lock Segment, Drag Retainer, Compression Spring, Lock Segment Support Ring, Drag Pads, Drag Block Spring, and Drag Block Housing).

a. Screw a -20 x 1 bolt, in the hole in the 47MS19, before sliding off Mandrel.

b. Slide off Drag Sub Assembly.

c. Make sure clamps are snug, and then unscrew 47MST19.

d. Slowly loosen the hose clamps to release the (6) Drag Pads and (48) Springs.

e. Unscrew the 5/16 18 x screws from the 47MST19.

e. Slide 47MST27 (Lock Segment Support Ring) out.

e. Slowly loosen the bolt to remove 47MST17(Lock Segment) and 47MST16 (Compression Spring).

Assembly Procedure

Sub Assembly 1--Drag Assembly

1 Parts Needed: (1) 47MST17 (Lock Segment), (1) 47MST19 (Drag Retainer), (1) 47MST16 (Compression Spring) and (1) 47MST27 (Lock Segment Support Ring). Also need to have (1) -20 x 1 bolt.

2 Set 47MST16 (Compression Spring) into the pocket of the 47MST17 (Lock Segment).

3 Line up the holes on the 47MST16, 47MST17, and 47MST19 (Drag Retainer) with the Compression Spring on the inside, hold together with -20 x 1 bolt.

4 Place 47MST27 (Lock Segment Support Ring) into 47MST19. Line up the three holes on the 47MST27 with the holes on the 47MST19. Install (3) 5/16-18 x (Bolt) from the outside of the part; hand tighten.

5 Set Sub Assembly aside.

Sub-Assembly 2--Drag Block

1 Select proper Drag Pads for casing weight. (17-32 lbs) uses DP900 and (29-38 lbs) uses DP800. Make sure the Drag Pads have the Carbide Buttons in them. Each Drag Pad needs (8) 47MST21 (Drag Block Spring). Place Springs onto the back of Drag Pad (be sure to place tabs against the back, with arch of spring away from the Drag Pad).

2 Repeat step 5 for the other 5 Drag Pads and Drag Block Springs.

3 Install the 6 Drag Pads with Springs onto 47MST18 (Drag Block Housing). Use a rubber band to help hold while putting them in. Once they are all together use hose clamps to snug up and hold together while inserting other parts.**Leave hose clamps on until told to remove.

4 Tighten Drag pad down into their grooves.

5 Screw Sub Assembly 1 onto on the Drag Block Housing.

Sub Assembly 3Mandrel

1 Grease threads on 47MST06 (Mandrel). Insert 47MST05 (Control Nut Clutch) with the step facing up. Hand tighten to the bottom of Mandrel.

2 Insert 47MST04 (Control Nut) with the step facing down toward the Control Nut Clutch onto the Mandrel.

3 Remove the 1/4-20 x 1 Bolt from the 47MST19.

4 Slide the Drag Block Housing Sub Assembly 2 (threads first) onto the threaded end of the Mandrel. Slide until it stops. The Lock Segment, (47MST17) may make it difficult to slide over the top of the Mandrel, tap with a rubber mallet.

Sub Assembly 4--Stinger

1 Install 43MK2.75 (Machine Key) into the groove on 47MST09 (Stinger Sub Body).

Sub Assembly 5Control Latch

1 Install (2) 47MST16 (Tension Springs) into the pockets of the 47MST08 (Control Latch). Hint: Grease spring lightly to help hold the spring in the pocket.

2 Install 47MST15 (Dog) into control latch, line up holes with springs.

3 Install (2) 43MST10 (Pin) into top of control latch. Holes are deeper than Pins. Push pin all the way in.

4 Install (2) -20x3/8-B (Brass Set Screws) into the same hole over the pins. Put thread tape on the screw and tighten until they stop DO NOT over tighten.

Sub Assembly 6Control Latch and Stinger Sub Body.

1 Slide Control Latch Sub Assembly onto the 47MST09 (Stinger Sub Body) fingers first. Line up the key with the groove inside the Control Latch.

2 Grease groove and threads on 47MST09. Insert 225-90D (O-Ring) onto Stinger Sub Body.

Sub Assembly 7Mandrel MST Assembly

1 Grease threads on Mandrel. Screw 27EC (7 Coupling). Hand tighten then tighten in vise.

2 Install 47MST07 (Retaining Sleeve) onto 47MST03 (Control Nut Sleeve).

** Make sure the lip on the 47MST07 is facing up.**

3 Grease Threads on Drag Block Housing. Screw 47MST03 with 47MST07 combo onto the end of Drag Block Housing. Line up the key way with the groove inside 47MST03 and holes. Hand tighten.

4 Insert (4) -20 x 3/8 (Socket Head Cap Screw) into holes in 47MST03.

5 Remove hose clamps.

6 Grease threads on 47MST20 (Setting Sleeve). Insert onto the threaded end of 47MST03 (Control Nut Sleeve). Thread all the way up to help make it easier to install the end parts.

7 Screw Stinger Assembly onto the Mandrel, holding the 47MST17 (Dog) down while screwing on. Tighten by hand until the dog is in the right place. Then tighten in vise. DO NOT put the wrench on seal area.

8 Screw 47MST20 toward stinger end until holes are flush with mandrel threads

9 Install (2) 3/8-16 x (Set Screw) into 47MST20. Tighten equally.

10 Grease the entire inside of the 47MST02 (Stinger Seal).

11 Insert 030-90D (O-Ring) into the groove located inside the 47MST02.

12 Grease threads and seal area. Slide 47MST02, with O-Ring, onto the threaded end of 47MST09 (Stinger Sub Body).

13 Screw 47MST12 (Stinger Sub) onto 47MST09. Hand tighten then tighten in a vise.

Insert onto the threaded end of 47MST03 (Control Nut Sleeve). Thread all the way up to help make it easier to install the end parts.7 Screw Stinger Assembly onto the Mandrel, holding the 47MST17 (Dog) down while screwing on. Tighten by hand until the dog is in the right place. Then tighten in vise. DO NOT put the wrench on seal area.8 Screw 47MST20 toward stinger end until holes are flush with mandrel threads9 Install (2) 3/8-16 x (Set Screw) into 47MST20. Tighten equally.10 Grease the entire inside of the 47MST02 (Stinger Seal).11 Insert 030-90D (O-Ring) into the groove located inside the 47MST02.12 Grease threads and seal area. Slide 47MST02, with O-Ring, onto the threaded end of 47MST09 (Stinger Sub Body).13 Screw 47MST12 (Stinger Sub) onto 47MST09. Hand tighten then tighten in a vise.
