U

• The U symbol stands for Universal film. A U film should be suitable for all audiences aged four years and over.

• Anyone can watch this type of film.

• This will not be the rating of my film because my film many contain some swearing and violence and if this is included it cant be viewed by younger audiences as it is inappropriate.

PG

• PG stands for Parental Guidance. • This means that the film is suitable for general viewing but

some scenes can be unsuitable/inappropriate for younger children.

• A PG film should be suitable for the viewing of eight or older.

• It is up to the parents if they let children that are younger to watch PG rated films.

• This will not be the rating for my film because my would have to have no swearing or violence or weapons. As my film will include blood this cant be viewed by the younger generation because this is too influential.

15

• No one that is under the age of 15 is allowed to see a 15 film.

• If under 15 years of age you cannot see a 15 film at the cinema or buy/rent a 15 rated dvd.

• 15 rated works are not suitable for children under 15 years of age.

• This is the rating that I have given for my horror film because as I have based my film on paranormal activity as this is 15 then I thought I should also be rated 15. Firstly I though that my film should be 18 but if the swearing is kept to a minimum and it doesn't’t include a lot gore then I can rate it a 15.

18

• Film that are rated 18 are for adults.

• No one that under the age of 18 is allowed to see an 18 film at the cinema or even buy/rent.

• No 18 rated films/DVDs are suitable for for children.

• Firstly I thought that my film should be 18 rated but if the swearing and violence is kept to a minimum then it can be a 15 and therefore more people can watch it therefor making me more money. Firstly my film will be 15 but once I've made the film opening I will decide whether it will be a 15 or 18.
