Comedy-horror!!!

Synopsis:Popular girl Jennifer is the girl that every other girl wants to be and every boy wants to be with so when her (Megan fox) and her best friend Anita (needy) Lesnicky just escape with their lives from a burning bar in the quaint little town of Devils Kettle you would expect their trauma to be over…Its not.Jennifer gets in a van with the band Low Shoulder who had been playing at the bar and drives off into the night only to later appear at needy’s house, clothes torn and covered in blood. Things get even weirder when local boys start being devoured but who is committing these brutal murders?It turns out Low Shoulder had tried to sacrifice Jennifer but everyone knows if you sacrifice a non-virgin they turn into the devil incarnate. Jennifer explains this to Needy only to end up in a “hot” lesbian make out scene. Jennifer then runs off into the night .Things quieten down until the night of the spring formal when Jennifer manages to seduce needy’s boyfriend Chip. They kiss and go to an abandoned swimming pool where Jennifer bites him. Needy arrives and Chip dies in her arms so she follows Jennifer back to her house where she stabs her with a box cutter killing her but Jennifer’s mum heard and needy is sent to a mental institution. Needy uses her newly acquired demon powers to escape the cell and hunts down Low Shoulder the last thing we see is the band snorting cocaine etc. in a local hotel then being killed by a blurry figure by the sacrificial knife and needy walking down the hotel corridor.

Synopsis link to genre:The link to genre is mainly shown through the absurdly interesting storyline. Basically the mixture of horror and humour combine together to create the definition of the comedy horror. There are a lot of sex references and also a lot of innuendo this ,added to the general horror and gore of the many sexual encounters that happen throughout the film show clearly the genre of comedy horrors. Narrative enigma also occurs throughout the film; the audience doesn’t know why Jennifer is the way she is ,a man killer, until its revealed what Low Shoulder did to her through the use of a flash back. There is a challenging representation of gender as in this case it’s the woman who's the baddy and the convention of using teenagers is also used as the characters are in high school and the main event happens at prom. This is used particularly in this genre as it allows the audience to connect more with the characters. Skimpy costumes are used throughout which is essential as not only does it appeal more particularly to male viewers but it also creates a pun and gives us an insight into the narrative as it tells us that Jennifer uses her body to kill people which refers back to the title “Jennifer’s Body". Gore is seen throughout the film enhancing the horror side and low lighting is used to make it seem dark and scary particularly when Jennifer kills Colin in the abandoned house this is also an example of inter-textual referencing as it’s pretty obvious something bad will happen if you go to an abandoned house on your own after local boys your age have all been killed whilst at spooky places on their own.
