Adulthood:

Bullet Boy:

Characters in my film are going to where street clothes like the characters in the film Adulthood. This includes a jacket or jumper, plain t-shirt and jeans or tracksuit bottoms. I chose this costume because wearing everyday clothing is a generic convention of a British social realism film. This characters costume is very dark. This could have a deeper meaning telling us he that he may be an antagonist in the film. The stepdad in my film is going to be wearing similar clothes and colour because dark colours are typically associated with the antagonist in the film. He is also going to be wearing a hoodie because it is going to be intimidating. Older characters usually look smarter in a film but in mine they are going to be dressed in street wear because they don’t have enough money to buy expensive clothes. Jude who is the other antagonist in the film is also going to be wearing dark clothing. Jude is Joes more aggressive and violent friend, so by wearing darker clothes he looks more intimidating and mysterious.

This character from the British film Bullet Boy is also wearing street clothes. In my film trailer Christian, Joes other best friend is going to be dressed similar to this. I have chosen this costume because realistic street clothes are a generic convention of British social realism film. He will be wearing brighter clothes like this character because he is a protagonist in the film, as he tries to help Joe do good instead of evil. White clothes on a character connote purity, happiness, and light instead of darkness. I feel like brighter clothing will suit the protagonist character.

A Room for Romeo Brass:

This character from the film A Room for Romeo Brass is seen wearing an ordinary polo shirt and dark tracksuit bottoms. This costume is very ordinary and unoriginal and almost looks scruffy. The main character in my film Joe is going to be wearing similar clothes to this. I chose similar clothes because they are street clothes which are a generic convention of a British social realism film. The scruffy looking clothes also shows that he might be from a working class background and his family might not have a lot of wealth. This character is wearing a bright shirt yet dark tracksuit bottoms. Joes is going to be wearing similar colours to this because it shows he is torn between good and evil wearing a bright piece of clothing and a dark piece. By the end of the trailer Joe will be wearing all dark clothing because he chose to kill his stepdad, therefore abiding by Jude’s proposition.
