In what ways does your media product use, develop or

challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My media product uses a lot of forms and convention of real music videos that are seen on the internet and TV. I analysed the original video to you belong with me and got some ideas of what I could use for mine. For example I used different shots to show my audience what was going on and so they could see what the actors were doing and where the location was. I also analysed other music videos that were of the same genre of Taylor Swift so again I could see what my target audience want to watch and what would make a successful music video. Most of the music videos told a story that matched the lyrics which is what I liked as the lyrics gave me more of an idea what I could do. Like real media products my music video was made up from about 45 different shots that lasted from around 2-6 seconds.

What have you learned from your audience

feedback? For my audience feedback I asked the 6 people in my media class to watch the music

video and give me there opinions on it. I created a questionnaire for them to fill in asking them a different range of questions so I could get a good idea of what they thought of the video. From my audience feedback I have learnt that- half of the people I have asked liked that the music video told a story that matched the lyrics. Two of them liked the actors and thought they done a good job and one of them liked the song that I used. -What I thought was interesting was four out of the six people did not like the fact that the lighting was bad in some of the shots. And the other two people did not like the blurry shots so if I could change anything it would be those two things.- I also asked my target audience if they could change anything about my music video what would it be and all of them said nothing so I was very please with that.- Also all of my target audience said that they liked the song that I used but I thought they would as it was targeted at people there age.- Another question I asked my target audience was do you think the music video matched the song and they all answered yes which is good because it was what I aimed to do. -My final question I asked was what would they rate my music video out of 10 and five out of the six people said 7 which I thought was average and one said 6 but overall I think that I have learnt that my target audience like my video and that I aimed it at the right age group and used a song that was well liked.

How effective is the combination of your main product and

ancillary texts? My main product and my ancillary text are effective to my main product

because my CD cover is there so that the CD looks good and gives the artist the chance to promote who they are and what there new songs are. It is also helps make the artist make money by people buying the CD so making the cover look attractive etc will help. I also done a poster that will advertise the music video I have made I also made sure that the poster and cover use the same colours and same images so that they both link in together. I found this very effective because it meant that people would hear about the music video and want to watch it because I made the poster look appealing and exciting. Here is a copy of my CD covers and poster.

How did you use new media technologies in the construction

and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Research – To do my research I mainly used the Internet and all the different search engines such as Google and ask etc, I used the internet because I needed to find out about different record labels I could use and also helped me decided on what artists song I wanted to use. I also used you tube (file sharing sites) as I had to research different music videos so I could get ideas for my own and look at the similar genre music videos so I could decide what song and artist I wanted to use. Finally I looked at Institutional websites so I could again get an idea about the artist and about the different record labels I could use. Planning – To do my planning I had to use quiet a few media technology such as a scanner for story board as I wrote it up on paper and scanned it onto the computer so it could then go on my blogger. Again I used the internet and you tube so I could listen to the song I was using as it made the story board easier to do. Word process was another thing I used so I could type up my work and paste it onto my blogger again, Digital imagery and Video technology was used a lot so I could practice using the video camera and take picture of the locations I will be using etc. Construction – The main media technology I used when constructing my music video was video technology as I had to film the whole video in different sections. I also used digital editing software to edit the video and put it all together so it was in time with the lyrics of the song. I then has to export my video to the web so I could then upload it on my blogger. I also used my iphone to play the song when filming the video so the actors knew what to do and when.

Evaluation – Finally for my evaluation I used slideshare as I had to put my PowerPoint into a video which was able to watch on my blogger. I also used the internet to access my blogger. I used Word process and Microsoft PowerPoint to actually do my evaluation on.
