1. The front cover challenges the forms of the traditional magazine conventionswhich helps develop the magazine in which helps the Medias product use. Thefront cover brings in the connotations that it is an urban based magazine with a bitof formality. You can see the clothing in the main image shows an urban feel withthe woolly hat; with also the aspect of the scarf covering up part of the mouthshowing that he does not want to be recognised. The hands in the pockets showthat he is in a relaxed mood, this is connoting an urban feel to the magazine byshowing the youth of today not really caring about whats happening in the worldtoday. The main image also shows professionalism by showing the shadow in thebackground with the help of the satin/lighting effects. This adds a professionalaspect to the front cover.As you can see at the top of the magazine there is a skylineshowing The hip hop and Grime culture. This connotes that thismagazine is largely urban based because hip hop and grime wascreated in the streets, which rappers made it more commercial byrapping about real life storys or how they feel such as the famousAmerican rappers back in the 1990s such as The notorious B.I.Gand Tupac.You then see the main title of the magazinewhich is Chillin. This connotes that you arechilling and relaxing when reading amagazine about this urban genre of music.As you can see throughout the magazine thecolour scheme are black, red and whitebecause all 3 of these colours contrast andgo well against each other. As you can seethe main title is showing the black marksthroughout the text with a black outline withthe help of the red in the middle. This helpsthe text stand out with the formal font thatshows the red and black which both contrastagainst each other to bring out the maintitle.On the left hand side of the front cover you still seethe main colour scheme with the easy to read fontcreated to show that the magazine is a mega grimeedition which makes the magazine more desirable,this is because it can be shown as a limited editionmagazine.On the right hand side of the magazine frontcover you can see the artists being featuredin the magazine. You can see I am stillkeeping in with the main colour scheme withtheir being a red block, a black outline withthe white impact font showing that theheader is easy to read.Underneath you can see the names of the differentartists being featured in the Mega Grime Edition ofChillin. As you can see if you look further down thepage you can see the block has alternated to a blackblock with a red outline which still relates back to thecolour scheme. As you can see the cover line shows aquote then a small headline showing the featuredarticle. You can see the cover line is in an easy to readfont, this will make it easy for the demographics toread the headline. The quotes are highlighted in redto show that its not a headline or a body of text.On the right side of the front cover you can seethe other features of the magazines shownthrough the cover line. The main artists shownon the cover line are highlighted in red to makeit easy for the audience to realise what artistsare being featured. Also if the audience are justskim reading through the magazine front cover,they can see the artists name which may makethem want to read the magazine about thecertain artist. On the right hand side of thefront cover you can see the website addresswhich directs you to the main Chillin website.The magazine shows that the internet isstarting to make an impact on most aspects ofthe modern world from shopping to advertisingto promotions.You can see on the bottom left side of the page thatthere is a QR code, Barcode, Publishing logo and theprice of the magazine. The Barcode helps shops withthe organisation and distributing of the magazines,The QR code directs the audience to the Chillinwebsite with the help of smart phones such as ablackberry or/and an iphone. The publishing logoshows the publishing and distributing company whichis shown on the urban magazine as StonebridgePublishing.Finally on the bottom right side of the page it showsparental advisory with also a buzzword. The parentaladvisory tells you that you need to look out for anystrong language or anything that is offensive. Thebuzzword shows a giveaway which is the best 50 grimetunes ever cut up for free. This will give the audiencean incentive to buy the magazine with a freebieincluded. 2. The contents page for Chillin challenges the forms of the traditional magazine conventionswhich develop the magazine in which helps the Medias product use. As you can see I havekept the same font as the front cover page but I just changed the writing used, which is at thetop of the contents pageOn the top left side of the contents page youcan see the editor with contact details suchas an e-mail and social networking. Theseconnote that the internet is being usedwidely around the globe compared to thebeginning of the millennium.The headers of each section are in a whiteimpact font with a black block with a redoutline. This signals that they are the sectionheaders which help bring out the font fromthe plain white background. The pagenumbers shown on the left side arehighlighted in red to show the numbersmore clearly with the single letter P justindicating that they are the page numbers.The article names are shown in an impactfont, which is an identical font to the coverlines on the front cover. The articleheadlines are shown in a black font so it iseasy to read against the white background,also with the red which highlights the artistsnames such as the features column. The redhighlighted text is also in a larger font whichshows the artist name more clearly.The first photo is shown as the artist Rans, which isthen linked in with the same page number as theactual article. This photo connotes a music vibe to thecontents page because it shows glasses which theyshow that he dresses to impress. This is showing thatall the artists of today want to dress to show off theirstyle and to show there riches.On the right it shows the artist lockdown on the phone,this connotes that lockdown is talking to other artistsabout new beats to create which also relates to thearticle.The picture below shows Squashie on the top of ametal ship container, this shows dominance as he islooking down on the camera, this shows a long shot ofthe surroundings behind him.Finally the picture underneath of Ugz is of her in amodel pose with an innocent look on her face. Thisrelates back to the article with Ugz in is involved in bythe fact that she has finally been signed, which thefirst photo shows that this is her first photo shoot ofher new career. 3. The double page spread for Chillin challenges the forms of thetraditional magazine conventions in which help develop themagazine for the Medias product use. The Headline used isquick and simple which is what I found out the demographicsprefer.All the quotes used arehighlighted in red toshow that it was theartist J said thequotes. The font usedwas Myriad pro whichlooks like a traditionalprint based newspaperfont. The font is in thecolour white becauseit stands out from thedark background.The background used is a studio background, but we didnthave any areas or rooms which had professional quality studiolooking rooms, so this meant that we had to use a differentbackground that we found.At the bottom of the page you can see on each side there are the pagenumbers and social networking. The page numbers are shown as 40 and 41because I found that main articles are featured in the middle of the magazinesthat I looked at. I found out that the demographic audience are more likely toremember the social networking addresses if they are left at the bottom nextto the page numbers.I have used six photosrepresenting Js struggles.Working from the toplooking down the pages itshows the movementwhich J has made. Lookingat the first photo you cansee J looking down at thefloor as a sorrow after hisfriend past away.You can see J walkingaway from the past in the2nd photo seeing as he hashis duffle bag full of hisclothes.The 3rd photo shows Jsfirst video shootThe 4th photo shows J onthe phone to other artistsbringing them into hissongs and his movement.Finally the 5th photoshows J filming with thedirector for his firstcommercial video shootwhich is going to beshown on Channel AKA.J has finally made it withthe big photo on theright of the page. Jsarms crossed shows thathe is confident and thathe wants to get goingwith his new path tosuccess.The quote at the bottom of this photo relates back to the main body oftext, which shows a quick summary.The twitter name in thetop right corner of thepage shows Js twitterwhich twitters users canfollow for new videos andnew updates about what ishappening.
