I used the normal codes and convections; it is on the left, used a masthead, sky lines , and cover lines. I used red, as it is a primary colour, and would stand out against other colours. I used outer glow, bevel and emboss to make the masthead standout against the background, so it doesn’t get lost. I also use colour contrast to make the background more brighter, as the original photo was more darker. My Photo is a mid-shot with the artist looking straight at the reader, almost following. It’s a natural shot, unmanufactured as it isn’t a studio shot and she is dressed similar to other artists of the genre and style as others; long coats, jeans, readers would be able to recognize what style of music she made/ . y post production survey, most thought it look similar to these two magazines; Rolling E being top brands, followed by Q and Mojo.

I carried on the house style by colour scheme, font style, and the photos.

I followed by colour scheme, and style from the previous two. I was inspired by a photo for my article title, “Genius at Work” was written on a mug I used. I followed codes and convections againin my Double page spread, using 3 columns, a tag line, and a pull quote.

From my survey 5 out of 15 said my double page spread was not as strong as the other 2 pages, but they like the photo’s used and the actual interview .

From my survey, 11 out of 15 thought my photography was their favouritePart of my design; they thought the photos stand out, humorous, interesting, fun, brightens up the page, and that they were very down to earth images, which related to the front cover (real music, real people.)

What bands/artists would you listen to?

This bar graph is from my pre – production survey where I gave my target audience a assortment of artists and bands, these results show that my target audience like a variety of types of bands and artists, so I decided to make my magazine content include different types of music.

My magazine they would be happy readers are interested in a variety of music, ranging from pop, rock, to indie, and world. They enjoy seeing live performances and enjoy the energy and excitement of seeing artists live. The reader’s don’t want to may too much for a magazine, they would be happy to spend less than a £1 to £2 for a music magazine, but they want good value, it should have at least 60-100 pages. and last competitions. Majority of readers download music (62%)

53% of readers said they go to live gigs, and festivals regularly, one of the main selling points of the magazine is about live performances.

My magazine is aimed at 16 - 26 year olds, it is centred around live performances, and variety of music including world, people with “big ears”. There are not many magazines that include world music or a mixture of music, there isn't many magazines that focus on more than one type of music for example, kerrang is rock, NME is indie rock, and Mixmag is dance and centre more on the artists life that the actual music they make. My overall houses style was inspired style by an old circus poster, as circuses have many acts, this magazine is about different types of music and live performances.

From my post production survey 9 out of 15 thought the magazine is aimed at 15 -20 years, which was my target audience that I wanted.

I would use the distributors IPC and H Bauer as they are the UK’s leading publishers. I would sell my magazine in WHSmith, as you wouldn’t sell it in your local news agents as they want more mainstream magazines like NME which they can sell more of, WHSmith has a variety of less mainstream magazines which would suit mine more.

I had very little experience using Photoshop,so I have learnt the basics which first I had no clue how to use but now have become second nature, which includes; Free transform, Lasso, bevel and emboss, magic wand and colour contrast.I used brushes for the first time, creating texture; I used it in my double page spread background, giving it an old wallpaper effect.

I also learnt of the theory of magazine production, the use of layout, colour, third left, and the codes and convections.I used survey monkey for the first time for this magazine project and the other preliminary tasks, I had to use slide share and blogger to show my work which I also had little experience before.
