Bay Closure Begins
All Agency Employees are required to attend MANDATORY
Annual Compliance Training during the month of
December. During this two-hour mandatory training session,
employees will complete the following compliance modules:
HIPAA * Corporate Compliance * Agency Standards of
Behavior * Harassment * Diversity
The Compliance Training sessions will be held on the following
days in the Medic Auditorium. Again, please note that this Compliance Training is
MANDATORY for ALL Agency employees. Anyone who does not complete this training
during the specified timeframe will be subject to disciplinary action.
Training Dates:
Tuesday, December 6th (12:00 —2:00 pm; 6:00 —8:00 pm)
Wednesday, December 7th (8:00—10:00 am; 4:00—6:00 pm)
Thursday, December 8th (12:00 — 2:00 pm)
Tuesday, December 13th (8:00—10:00 am; 12:00 — 2:00 pm)
Wednesday, December 14th (8:00—10:00 am; 6:00 — 8:00 pm)
Thursday, December 15th (12:00 — 2:00 pm)
Friday, December 16th (8:00—10:00 am; 12:00 — 2:00 pm)
The Compliance Training will take 2 hours to complete. Employees whose schedules do
not allow attendance during regularly scheduled work hours will be paid for their
attendance (this essentially applies to field & CMED staff). Employees who normally wear
uniforms WILL NOT be required to wear them, but are expected to dress appropriately for
the office environment.
All other employees are expected to communicate with their direct supervisor and
make arrangements to attend the session that best suits their schedule.
Employees WILL NOT clock in for this training; we will follow the new Agency policy for hours
worked outside of the schedule. Forms will be in the auditorium for employees to fill out and
Jeff Keith will sign them all on the spot to ensure timely payment.
**Sign-ups are not needed. Please attend the session that works best for your schedule.**
Please contact Jeff Keith, Deputy Director, at extension 6160 or [email protected]
if you have any questions.

We are holding off on finalizing the Performance Pay
score related to Patient Satisfaction. In short – PRC
(the survey company) has been asked to go back and
do an accounting of the surveys they conducted over
the tracking period. We simply want to make sure
they did the requisite number of surveys we contract
for and that they are broken down correctly by
patient priority level.
As it stands right now, our Patient Satisfaction score is
67.3% excellent. If nothing changes, we will
unfortunately come up short for the tracking period.
Many people have asked whether or not we round the
numbers up/down. We do. Anything from .5 - .9 is
rounded up; anything .1 - .4 is rounded down. We would need to achieve 67.5% or higher to see the 67% move to 68%.
Please know that everyone in Medic is pulling for the results that yield the performance payout. We know how hard
everyone works and we want to see it pay off in terms of excellent performance and happy employees.
As soon as we hear back from PRC, we will report out the final results. Thanks for your continued patience everyone.

fortunate children who may otherwise have nothing during
the holiday season.
Angels are available for pick up in the Bay Area near
Logistics. Please make sure all gifts are under the tree by
Friday, December 9th.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Portions of the bay will be closed within the next few weeks so contractors can apply Epoxy to the floors. Please see the
map below for details on exactly which areas will be impacted. These closures will begin Tuesday, 11/29 and run
through Sunday, 12/4 so please be aware of which portions of the bay will close and when.
Also, on 12/2-12/4 the wash bay entrance to scheduling will be closed. Please access this area of the building
through the fitness area door. Any questions should be directed to Bryan Edwards at extension 6130 or via e-mail at

Medic’s Scheduling Department recently unveiled an Agency-wide revision to the current
Payroll Policy. As a result, there have been several questions about specific changes and
required forms. The Scheduling Department has compiled a list of some of the most
frequently asked questions in order to help employees better understand the policy changes.
Please see below:
If my scheduled hours are adjusted to pair me up with someone, thus making
my hours different do I need to complete a form?
No, your hours on the Operations Schedule is considered your “scheduled hours” for that day and
no form is needed.
Do I need to complete a form for a late call?
Yes, anything that is outside of your scheduled hours on the Operations Schedule requires a form to be completed for authorization
and validation.
If I forgot my badge and cannot clock in or out do I need to complete a form?
Yes, that would be considered a missed time punch unless you know your badge ID code and enter it manually at the time clock.
If the clock will not accept my clock in/out attempt, do I need to complete a form?
Yes, that would be considered a missed time punch, although through no fault of your own, it needs to be documented so it can be
added to your time card. Also, you may try entering your badge ID code manually at the clock. Also notify scheduling asap so the
problem can be corrected.
If I forget to clock in or out, do I need to complete a form?
Yes, notes on the schedule about missed punches will not be accepted.
I signed up for an overtime shift; do I need to complete a form?
No, as long as your hours worked on the operation schedule matches your clock in and out time, there is no need to complete a
form.
If I go home early and take vacation or sick time, do I need to complete a form?
Yes, if you clock out early and take vacation or sick time, you must complete a form.
If I work in another function other than on a Medic truck, such as SWAT, Medical Services, etc. should
I complete a form?
Yes, if you did not participate in a group function that included a roster sign in sheet you must complete a form.
If I am on “light duty” do need to complete a card for my hours worked?
No, light duty is managed through human resources and tracked separately.
Can a relief operations supervisor sign as the authorizing supervisor?
Yes, anyone functioning in a supervisory role can sign as the authorizing supervisor. If a relief supervisor is completing a form for an
incident, another functioning supervisor will need to validate and sign his/her form. All completed forms are filed with each
employee’s assigned supervisor after they are processed.
Please contact Bryan Runyan via e-mail at [email protected] if you have any questions about the Payroll
Policy Revision process.

As of last week 75 patients have been enrolled into the therapeutic
hypothermia randomized control trial. We would like to thank everyone
who has enrolled a patient so far. The data we have received up to now
has been excellent. As of this update there have been only two protocol
deviations. While deviations are never good we are impressed that
compliance has been so high and we want to thank you for your continued
efforts regarding this study. Please continue enrolling patients, this study
would not be possible without your participation.
As a reminder if you respond to a cardiac arrest and enroll a patient into
the study, please remember to call the study voicemail and provide the
information outlined on the back of the study card. At the end of your
shift if you enrolled a patient please turn your study card into the on duty
OA and complete the study survey, if not please return with the rest of
your equipment to the OST.
Please remember to only enroll adult, medical cardiac arrests. Pediatric patients (<18 years old), traumatic arrests, and
cardiac arrests as the result of a drowning are to be excluded. Thanks again for your participation in this study and your
continued support of research here at Medic.
Study Reminders:
Only your first cardiac arrest of the day should be enrolled, subsequent patients should follow local
protocol (immediate hypothermia).
Immediate hypothermia –begin TH as soon as possible during the resuscitation.
After ROSC hypothermia – initiate TH only if ROSC is achieved.
Turn-in completed study cards to the O.A. and complete the survey for all patients enrolled.
EXCLUSIONS:
Traumatic Cardiac Arrests
Pediatric Cardiac Arrests (<18 years old)
Drowning victims
Suspected pregnant patient
Electrocution patients
Your cooperation and compliance is essential to the success of this project. Please direct any questions regarding Medic’s
Hypothermia Study to Steve Vandeventer at 980.406.1220 or via e-mail at [email protected] or to Dr. Jonathan
Studnek at ext. 6046 or via e-mail at [email protected].
