Medical Forms If your son/daughter has a medical condition that requires him/her to take medication at school either daily or sporadically please contact the school to complete school board documentation that must be signed by the parent & doctor. Board policy dictates that all medication needs to remain at the school in the first aid cabinet.

Student Dismissal Just a reminder to parents that student dismissal is at 2:40 p.m. and we are again requesting that if parents arrive at the school earlier to please wait in the foyer or their vehicles and not to go to the classrooms to pick up their children. This will prevent con-gestion in the halls at dismissal time.

Student Attendance Improving student attendance is a goal for our school this year. Regular attendance at school is a key element linked to improved student achievement. It is reflected in both the learning skills and subject marks on your child ’s report card. Parents play an im-portant role and can contribute to their child’s success by ensuring that their child attends school not only regularly but on time. Thank you very much for your support in this matter and please note that we fully understand that students will likely miss days due to personal illness or unforeseen circumstances.

Student Agendas Student agendas are again available for the price of $3 per student which will help partially cover the cost of the agendas. These agendas facilitate home/school communication. If your child’s teacher is using one of these purchased agendas, we are asking that you kindly remit the $3 fee to your child’s classroom teacher in one of the school envelopes provided or cash on-line. Thank you.

Student Handbook Is available on our school website at http://http://shr.rcdsb.on.ca/en/ourschool/newsletters.asp Any questions please contact the school office.

Sherwood Public School Code of Behaviour Students, staff and visitors of Sherwood Public School are expected to behave in a manner which shows respect for themselves,

their families, their school and their community. Physical, verbal, sexual, or psychological abuse; bullying; or discrimination on the

basis of race, culture, religion, language, disability, or any other attribute, is unacceptable.

Please see below the cost per month. SEPTEMBER $13.50 (18 days). Sept. 10-13 $3.00 Sept. 17-21 $3.75 Sept. 24-28 $3.75 A monthly milk order will be delivered to your child(ren’s) classroom. To stay in line with our Board Policy, we will be offering milk purchase once a month only, starting in October. Please fill out the form and return to the homeroom teacher as soon as possible. Please make cheques payable to Sherwood or pay directly online. Thank you for your support in our Milk Delivery Program.

Lockdown Practice As per board policy we will be carrying out lockdown practices throughout the school year. A lockdown is a response to an emer-gency situation such as the presence of an armed intruder. A lockdown isolates students, staff and others from danger by requir-ing everyone to remain inside the building in secure locations. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact the school.

News from Transportation The Joint Transportation Policy dictates that bus passes will only be issued for emergencies and special needs purposes subject to there being room on the bus. For such approvals, the Special School Bus Pass must be used (drivers are not expected to receive notes from parents). A video surveillance system, which may also include audio/sound recording, may be installed/activated on any student transporta-tion vehicles during the school year. This is one mechanism which can be used to monitor the ride to ensure everyone’s safety and compliance with all rules while on the vehicle. Cameras could be positioned in various locations inside the vehicle, and may include outside as well. A sign is posted within the vehicle informing that surveillance may be in operation. Privacy is always re-spected according to RCJTC and Board policies. RCJTC, school principal and/or vice principal may view any recorded video. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact the RCJTC at 613-732-8419 or www.onthebus.ca.
