BUILDING ON THE SUCCESS OF THE MEDICATION ASSESSMENT CENTRE

Interprofessional Collaboration

• The MAC is a pharmacist-led clinic, run by the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition in Saskatoon, which strives to optimize patient health through improved medication use.

• The MAC has successfully collaborated with hundreds of family physicians and nurse practitioners across Saskatchewan over the last 6 years.

Meeting a Need in the Community

• Saves you time – we take the time to collect a detailed history, utilize the expertise of our chronic pain physician, recommend a treatment plan, and provide monitoring and follow-up.

• Convenience – at no cost to patients, the service is located in Saskatoon at the University of Saskatchewan and free underground parking is available. Patients may also be contacted remotely from anywhere in Saskatchewan.

Quotes from Family Physicians

“Often the MAC helps strengthen the conviction of some of my prescribing choices or gives me a chance to enter into a dialogue about change, which my patient has been reluctant to consider.”

“Recommendations and consult letters from the pharmacist were extremely helpful. Thorough, evidence-based recommendations. Patients have loved it.”

The MAC iOPS team will not take over prescribing for any medications
