Take care of you, for us!
Quoted from: Kathy Dunlap Thank you, it really hits home!
Somedays you just have to create your own sunshine. It is very easy to get “down in the dumps” concerning the coronavirus. We are a very social group. We have so much to be grateful for. Let’s pray for everyone who has contracted the virus, for the families and friends who have lost a loved one to this disease. And, let’s not forget the Front-line doctors, nurses, first responders and anyone who has had direct contact. Also, all of the employees at the “Essential” businesses that have stayed open to attempt to give us our normal life. Sue has been sending out some heart felt, motivational emails to our chapter and friends. During this time of the pandemic we are reprinting them in “Chapter Chatter”, please read them again and pass them along. Three people found the “icon” last month. Look for it. Lottery tickets will be given out when we resume our “new” normal life. All of our Chapter members make Chapter P the wonderful Chapter that it is today. Without all of you, the Chapter would not exist.
Please check your computer for updates, sent out via email.

Now, riding is the in thing to do. I have always worn protective gear- facemask -gloves. My work is closed for two weeks, maybe longer so I have done a few impromptu rides. First was to Ashland, passed it up on RT. 42 and ended up in Mansfield. I did stop at Whitmore Motors they had a bunch of old cars for sale. Mr. Whitmore was there, he told me he too was closed, but look around. I fell in love with about 10 of his cars but will hold off for now. Being off work has giving me the time to clean out the garage. I have a lot for the garbage, but filled the space with stuff from my mom’s house. I did start on the carbs for my CX-500. And, even took the old Trams Am for a ride around the block. Maybe home quarantine is not so bad. Until later, Kevin

Hi, I hope everyone is doing well, I saw this info and thought it might help our members. Q: I made too much money in 2019 to qualify. But now I've been laid off. Am I out of luck? A: Not necessarily, but you'll have to wait. If you made too much to qualify in your last tax filing, you probably won't be eligible for the cash benefit immediately. But you can apply for it when you file your 2020 tax return if your income drops below $99,000 threshold for individuals (which doubles for couples) this year. The IRS is expected to create a system to ensure help for people who fall into this category."
Now back to my thoughts... Along the same thinking, people who earned amounts that caused the check to be reduced may be able to get the difference when filing 2020 taxes. This is something to keep in mind when filing 2020 taxes. If you earned less in 2018 than 2019 and haven't filed yet, hold off. If 2019 was less than file ASAP. PAT MURRAY

District Ride Educators:
Robert G & Angela Williams You may or may not know that Great Oaks Wilmington notified me that they had cancelled our spot on their calendar for our ARC/TRC class on May 9/10 2020. Dave Preston was working on an alternate site but was told that it will not be ready in time for us to use. I spoke to the Galion School Principle and he says at this time we are still on his schedule. So for those that have signed up for Wilmington dates that can; please let me know if you want to move to Galion. May 16 TRC May 17 ARC All others let me know if you want a refund. Thank you, Robert G. Williams With all the concerns with the Wuhan Coronavirus (covid-19) I thought I would copy out an article from Byron Wilson. You can see this entire article at: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/autosmotorcycles/coronavirus-safety-tips-for-motorcycle-riders/ar-BB11lUwb
Coronavirus Safety Tips for Motorcycle Riders COVID-19, also known as 2019 novel coronavirus, is quickly changing the way many of us proceed in public, and it’s important to have a game plan for when you go out in order to have the best chance of staying healthy and infection free. Motorcycle riders, even though they’re a formidable bunch unafraid of taking risks or facing danger, aren’t immune from the virus which is why we’ve put together a list of tips to help keep you safe and healthy as you ride through the storm. Tip #1: Avoid Large Gatherings We’re just coming into the riding season in many parts of the States and rallies, group rides, and meetups are a fantastic way to usher in another year of rides. This year, however, it would be wise to avoid these types of gatherings, if they haven’t already been canceled. The CDC states that the best way to avoid coronavirus is to “avoid being exposed” to the virus. So that means foregoing the club dinner or meeting after a ride and steering clear of popular hangouts that attract a lot of people. Tip #2: Don’t Touch Your Face So you just got back from a few hours on the road, you’ve stopped at a few places along the way, handled money, and opened a few public doors without your riding gloves on. You’re finally enjoying the fresh, sweet air on your head now that your helmet is off. If you’re like me, it would feel really good to rub your eyes or scratch that itch that started nagging you a few miles back. Try to avoid this, unless you are absolutely sure that your hands are fully sanitized. Grab a clean rag or handkerchief if you can instead, or find some hand soap and scrub for at least 20 seconds before you put those mitts on your face.
Tip #3: Manage Your Stress For a lot of motorcyclists, riding is a form of stress management, but it’s optimal to have your stress levels under control before you get on the bike so you can minimize mistakes caused by inattention. So really try to get your head in the right place before you hit the road. Take a few minutes before you ride and take some deep breaths, stretch, make sure you’re well fed and well rested. Then, when you feel your focus is dialed and your body loose, start your ride. Tip #4: Clean and Disinfect Think about any commonly touched surfaces that may need to be addressed, such as any tools, your handlebars, or the inside of your helmet then clean and disinfect these surfaces. Cleaning gets the dirt and grime off, while disinfecting does the job of killing any lingering germs. The CDC recommends this two-step process in order to maximize the effectiveness of your sanitization practices. Tip #5: Carry Sanitizer with You If Possible If you have hand sanitizer at home that contains at least 60 percent alcohol, find a convenient way to carry some with you during a ride. It will come in handy if you stop anywhere along the way and touch any public surfaces, like a gas pump for instance. Tip #6: Consider Keeping Your Gear in the Garage For those who are doing out-and-back rides without any stops along the way, this tip may not be necessary, but if you’re stopping and interacting with others or making contact with high-traffic public surfaces, it may be wise to leave your gear in the garage. The CDC explains that it may be possible for coronavirus to be transmitted from contact with a contaminated surface, though it’s not considered the primary means of transmission. At this time it’s also thought that coronavirus has poor survivability on surfaces, so this precaution is a better-safe-than-sorry recommendation for those who have high-risk family members at home, such as the elderly or those with chronic medical conditions like heart or lung disease. Tip #7: If You Feel Sick or Are Worried That You’ve Been Exposed, Stay Home If you have a bit of a cough or other mild flu-like symptoms, stay home and give yourself time to rest. In other circumstances feeling a bit under the weather might not be reason enough to forego a ride, but with coronavirus it’s to your benefit and the benefit of your community to hold off. This recommendation also goes for anyone who is worried they may have been exposed, since symptoms don’t show up right away and some people may be asymptomatic. The CDC indicates that symptoms can show anywhere between two and 14 days after exposure, and that the range and severity of symptoms varies.
Above all else, be safe out there, exercise your best judgment and follow any additional recommendations provided from your local health authorities.

Health Update:
Chapter Chatter
Sue has been sending out some heart felt, motivational emails to our chapter and friends. During this time of the pandemic we are reprinting them in this newsletter: As we are approaching the end of the first week of the 15 days to slow the spread, we all need to think about all the things that we take for granted. Getting together with friends and family. Going out to a restaurant. Going to school. Going to work. Going to church. Going to a sporting event. Greeting people with a handshake or a hug. There are so many things that we just do and never really think about...... Now I want you to know that we are not complaining.... just thinking about all the day to day activities... that we take for granted. We want you to know that we realize just how important our family and friends are to our very existence. We can still stay in contact by simply, picking up the phone, texting, emailing. You can even write a letter! “Novel Idea” (Dated March 21, 2020) -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next time you have to be out in public, share a smile or a hello with whoever you see! We can all do this with the current distance requirement. This will not only make you feel better but it will also make the person you see feel better. Our generation is so much more dependent on social interaction. The younger generation does their texting, tweeting etc. so not being with people socially is not as challenging for them. We appreciate everything that is being done to help protect us. What a huge responsibility everyone has on the front lines. If we all do what is asked of us, and work together, hopefully, we will all come out if this sooner than later. The next two weeks are critical...please stay at home. Only go out if you have to.... You are all important to us. (Dated, March 31, 2020) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The ARC-TRC course May 9th and 10th at Great Lakes Wilmington has been canceled due to the coronavirus. Look for the “Money Bag” icon in this newsletter. The first to let us know, gets a lottery ticket! The first 3 people to find the icon last month: Cathy W., Chuck H., and George S. GREAT JOB!! Please be Safe. Please Stay Healthy. Be Smart. Be Positive. We are all looking forward to normalcy!
