Call for Abstracts!

MedStar Health and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital are pleased to announce the call for oral and poster abstracts for the 2021 Diabetic Limb Salvage Conference.

Abstracts will be reviewed and selected on the basis of their scientific merit and content quality. Submitted abstracts meeting the eligibility requirements will be considered for poster presentation from Wednesday, April 7 to Saturday, April 10, 2021.The top abstracts will also be awarded and presented orally on Saturday, April 10, 2021 during general session.

We invite you to participate by submitting a 250-word abstract, which should describe work with relevance to diabetic foot and limb salvage. Please visit DLSconference.com for more information.

2021 MedStar Georgetown Distinguished Achievement Award in Diabetic Limb Salvage

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is honored to present Benjamin A. Lipsky, MD, FACP, FIDSA with the 2021 MedStar Georgetown Distinguished Achievement Award in Diabetic Limb Salvage.

Dr. Lipsky is currently Professor of Medicine Emeritus at University of Washington, Seattle, where he has been on the faculty for 41 years. He was previously based for 35 years at the Veterans Administration Medical Center where he was Chair of Infection Control, Hospital Epidemiologist, Director of the Primary Care Clinic, and directed a Wound Infection Research Clinic that conducted over 60 randomized clinical trials. From 2012-2018 he was a Teaching Associate and Associate Fellow at Green Templeton College and Visiting Professor (Infectious Diseases and Microbiology) at the University of Oxford, Division of Medical Sciences, as well as a Visiting Professor of Infectious Diseases at the University of Geneva.

Dr. Lipsky has authored more than 280 peer-reviewed publications and over 100 other medical papers and textbook chapters, as well as four books on infectious diseases and diabetic foot complications. He has been the Chair of the guideline committees on diabetic foot infections of both the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot since their inception and is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot.
