Lower Kamenjak
Swimming and sunbathing in the area of this protected landscape is truly a wonderful experience. This is the southernmost part of the Istrian Peninsula, covering an area of approximately 404 hec-tares and surrounded by 30 km of coastline dotted with numer-ous coves and miniature beaches. The world-famous travel guide Lonely Planet includes Kamenjak on the list of the most secluded beaches, ranking Kamenjak as one of the most private spots in the Mediterranean. Here you can also find one of the top 10 beaches in the Mediterranean. You can reach Kamenjak by car, bike or boat. An admission fee is charged for all vehicles entering this protected landscape; those arriving by bike or on foot enter free. This applies to visitors entering Kamenjak from June to September. The protected land-scape is open from 7 am - 9 pm.
Medulin archipelagoThe Medulin archipelago is a true paradise for lovers of intact nature, so the visit to one of the 10 uninhabited small islands will surely be a unique experience for those seeking such beauty. Islands Ceja, Levan and Bodulaš are ideal for whole-day excursions since they offer catering facilities. These restaurants that blend into the environ-ment perfectly offer local specialties as well. Beaches of the Medulin archipelago are mostly rocky and ideal for sunbathing, whereas Levan island also has a lovely sandy beach perfect for children. Owners of vessels over 3 meters or vessels with engine over 5 KW must obtain a vignette at the Pula Harbor Master’s Office (Riva 18, tel./fax 222 037, [email protected]). The vignette can also be obtained in Medulin, at the tourist agency Aquamarin, Burle 7, tel. 576 616. The vignette is valid for a one-year period and the fee depends on the length of vessel.Upon registration a crew list has to be drawn up, not greater than twice the vessel’s unit capacity.In addition to this, guests also have to pay the insurance premium for consequential damage. This insurance can be paid in the coun-try of residence. The same applies to owners of jet-skis.All persons running motorboats, including jet-skis must have an appropriate boat handling certificate of competence.

In the area of Medu-lin Bay such a corridor is marked by buoys and lies between Ceja island and camp Medulin. Until reach-ing this corridor jet-skis should move at the lowest possible speed. In the close vicinity of Medulin lies the three-thousand-year-old city of Pula with its unique cultural monuments. The Amphitheater dating from the 1st century AD, Triumphal Arch of the Sergi and Temple of Augustus from the same period, as well as numerous other monuments from the Roman period are just some of the sights worth seeing. The Arena is open daily from 8 am - 9 pm, the Archaeological Museum, Mon - Sat from 9 am - 8 pm, Sun and holidays from 10 am – 3 pm. Pula is also interesting as a city of multicultural architecture where different styles intertwine: Venetian, Renaissance, Gothic, and Baroque... BAREDINE CAVE (period June1- Sept 15)In close vicinity of Poreč, between Nova Vas, Višnjan and Tar is Baredine Cave. This cave is a true treasury of stalagmites and stalactites, under-ground sculptures created by activities of water over the centuries. Some of the most interesting forms are realistic statue of the Holy Virgin, figure of the shepherdess Milka, the leaning tower of Pisa, snowman-torchbear-er that has become the trademark of this cave. A special attraction of this excursion is the underground animal life where you can see proteus anguinus, endemic species that can only be found in the karst areas.
PLITVICE LAKES NATIONAL PARK (period Jan 1 - Dec 31)This is one of the most beautiful national parks in Europe. It spreads over a wooded mountainous region with sixteen magnificent small and large lakes, interconnected by cascades and waterfalls. Plitvice Lakes are about 200 km from Medulin. VENICE(period June 1 - Sept 15)The boat ride lasts about two and a half hours. After arriving in Venice, one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world, there is a sightseeing tour of the city and the famous glass factory “Murano”. During the summer months there is a possibility of half-day excursions by boat in Medulin Bay. Porer lighthouse can be reached by the boat MEDULIN, stopping on the way and visiting Golumbera Cave on Cape Kamenjak, Fenoliga island (dinosaurs’ footprints), Ceja island and Krmeda Cove (swimming). In the town of Vodnjan, 22 km from Medulin, is St. Blaise’s Church with its valuable Sacral Art collection. Among the many paintings, reliquar-ies, liturgical vestments and vessels from the 14th - 19th century, a special attraction are the so-called Istrian mummies (corpi santi). The body of St. Nikoloza, Benedictine nun who died in Venice in 1512 is the best preserved mummy in Europe. St. Blaise’s Church, the tallest church in Istria, also keeps mummified bodies of Leon Bembo, Giovanni Olini and body parts of St. Sebastian and St. Barbara. KAMENJAK - MARVELOUS OASIS OF UNTOUCHED NATURE
Kamenjak Peninsula is a marvelous oasis of untouched nature that is just as wonderful whether you explore it on foot, swim in its crystal-clear waters or admire it from the air.Every year more than half a million visitors who arrive here are fascinated by its natural beauties. Its numerous picturesque coves are equally attractive in summer and winter, the time of complete peace and tranquility. “Along the paths of dinosaurs on Kamenjak” is the name of the educational-recreational trail that takes you on an imaginary tour back in time when the “frightful” prehistoric creatures complete-ly ruled these areas. The trail is 600 meters long and starts only 300 meters from the very entrance. Life-size models of dinosaurs are put up along the trail and the adventure ends on the coast where real dinosaur footprints are visible. On the southern part of the protected area of Lower Kamenjak there is an educational trail that describes some of the natural beauties of this unique and exceptional area. Five information boards are placed along the trail. The walk along the educational trail starts by the “belvedere” and after this you just have to follow the signs indicating the direction. The trail is specially suitable for children.While discovering Kamenjak, you will surely be amazed by its rich nature, the aromatic and enchanting fragrance of Mediterranean plants will follow you along the way and if you take a closer look you can see one of the many orchid species. Kamenjak is the habitat of some thirty species of this lovely plant.

Folklore and entertainment event “Medulinka” consists of two parts; the music and theatrical part presents the traditional wedding or the wedding feast of a young cou-ple. The bride, groom and wedding guests are dressed in traditional costumes. The performance shows the entire wedding feast, dressing of the bride, asking for her hand in marriage and the marriage ceremony itself. All this is accompanied with plenty of traditional music.
