UK context

Nearly 15,000 design jobs were lost in the UK in 2002. Most from large consultancies employing 50 or more, who lost 32 per cent of their personnel.

Middle-ranking consultancies escaped economic gloom. Those with turnover of £100-250K were up 10%.
