INTRODUCTION

MeeGo is a Linux-based open source mobileoperating system which is designed to act as anoperating system for hardware platforms such asmobile phones, net books, tablets, connected TVs

and in-vehicle infotainment system.It was first announced at Mobile world Congress in

Feb 2010 by Intel and Nokia in joint pressconference.

The stated aim is to merge the efforts of Intel'sMoblin and Nokia's Maemo former projects intoone new common project. i.e. “MeeGo”

Continued..Maemo is a software platform developed by Nokia for

Smartphones and internet tablets which is based onDebian Linux distribution.

Moblin(Mobile Linux) is Intel’s open source mobileoperating system and application stack for Mobile

internet devices(MIDs),netbooks etc.

Architecture can be viewed in three different ways:

Layer viewDomain view

API view

Layer view:It shows the separation of different layers anduser experience (UX) verticals. The Layer viewconsists of three layers: User Experience,

Application API, and Core OS layers.UX provides the Application Framework for

each device profile.

based platforms. It’s based on Qt and Qt Mobility. Qt is fully object-oriented, easily extensible, and

allows true component programming whichprovides application developers with the

Qt Mobility delivers a set of APIs to Qt.

Difference b/w MeeGo and Android

MeeGo and Android both are open sourced Linuxbased smart phone operating system whereasMeeGo is a coordinated effort by the Linuxcommunity but Android not.

Android project is currently carried out by Googleand MeeGo is carried out by Intel and Nokia as a

joint venture.

Android’s Java based applications are easy to buildfor beginners, Maemo & MeeGo’s developmentenvironments allow for much richer applications.

This phone will be something everyone wants to own.It will try to satisfy all needs into one plate. MeeGophone will be capacitive, more stylish and morebeautiful with simpler UI that average users will find

as equally compelling as tech leaders. It has potentialto be something deeper than typical Smartphone.

All future flagships will be built on MeeGo.

The phone will be on N-series (not rumored S-

series). MeeGo will have higher experience level thanSymbian
