• “We researched charities after attending WE Day.  We did the college virtual tours for DiscoverU Day that you mentioned.  We have made the everyday task of doing reading notes more exciting by creating outlines and charts in Word to take our notes.  We have completed assignments online via TASC and participated in the Discussion Boards.  We did the European Explorer Project– researched, took notes, wrote a monologue, created a PowerPoint slide of an explorer and did a voiceover of his monologue.  We are increasing our typing skills through tacomatypingclub.com.

• Future plans are being formed. We are going to begin a States Project where we research a specific state and create a powerpoint, chart, or brochure advertising it.  We are also preparing for the new format of the Smarter Balanced Assessment writing tests - reading multiple sources of information on a topic, taking notes, and then answering an essay question with facts, figures, citations, and elaboration.
