MEET IN THE MIDDLE MEETINGApril 26th, 2009

Present: Mr. D. Gonzalez, Principal, Ms. L. Gonzalez, Librarian, Mrs. N. Chapa, FLS Teacher, Mr. O. Canizalez, Coach, Mr. S. Arriaga, Coach, and 4 students.

I. Special Olympics Pep-Rally-Mr. Gonzalez, principal thought this was a wonderful idea and share his thoughts of when we should have it. Date was set for May 3rd during last block. Coach Canizales will organize it along with some of our MIM students; Coarch Arriaga will create posters along with some MIM, PE, and Art students; we want to include all types of clubs: Bands, cheerleaders, Sparkler dance team, Tomorrow’s Teachers, and of course some of our MIM students; much brainstorming and planning took place during this time.

II. Discussed videos to create, students who would share a few words/create a poem, etc.

III. Discussed both MIM Learning buddies and PE buddies activities; students are doing great in the midst of so much TAKS testing and are doing what they can.

IV. Closing-thoughts of excitement in having our 1st ever Special Olympics pep-rally which we will continue doing on an annual basis.
