BALATON BECKONS!Welcome to the Red Bull Air Race at Lake Balaton. Here you can find all the information you need for your visit, including how to access the venue and when all the action takes place. You can follow the racing via the official Red Bull Air Race App, available to download on the App Store / Google Play.

The World Championship arrives at the popular Hungarian holiday destination for the penultimate race of the season on 13-14 July 2019. A new stop on the calendar, it is sure to be a hit, with beachside viewing and scenic backdrop.

After claiming back-to-back wins at the previous stops in Abu Dhabi and Kazan, it’s Japan’s Yoshihide Muroya who’s in the lead. If defending Champion Martin Sonka wants to retain his title, he needs to stop Muroya and win in Hungary!

Hot on their heels, 12 other Master Class pilots will be vying for World Championship points in Hungary so this race will be unmissable!

The Red Bull Air Race will take place on 13-14 July 2019 along the shores of Lake Balaton, in Hungary. As a popular tourist destination, the beautiful setting will put the fans close to the action at the public beach in Zamárdi.

Free public parking is available just minutes from the beach and visitors arriving by car will be guided to the correct area as there will be a diversion system in place.

ONLY at the official event venue: watch all the flying as it happens and get the full, enhanced race experience with video walls and lots of extra entertainment to make the weekend thrilling.

Exit M7 highway at “Exit 112” towards Zamárdi felső/Szántód/Siófok nyugat and follow the instructions of the security personnel.

Direct buses from Budapest Népliget bus station to Zamárdi at 06:40, 06:45, 15:15. Trains depart every hour from Budapest, South Railway Station to Zamárdi – call MÁVDIREKT: +36 (1) 3 49 49 49.

Free parking is available at Szent István utca. Please follow the roadsigns and instructions. The event location is a few minutes by foot.

ITEMS YOU CAN’T BRINGItems that will make your experience a happy one are welcome such as sunscreen, personal cameras and blankets. Leave behind items that will ruin the fun.

Feel the unique spirit of aerial motorsport combined with an array of entertainment and jaw-dropping feats from famous athletes. See the action up close from here, with the best viewing experience plus fun for all the family to enjoy around the main stage.On the water, between the racing, watch in amazement as Szebasztian Szóláth rides his wakeboard. Also, on the trials course the Gravity Academy will show their two-wheeled talent!

Free admission –At the public beach at Zamárdi, next to the official Fan Zone, is where you can catch all the action live and on the video walls while hanging out on the Lake Balaton shore!

Grandstand tickets – Seated viewing experience with full access to the Fan Zone and a dedicated video wall. Ticket holders will be provided with a wristband to allow event re-entry throughout the day.

State-of-the-art flying machines, built and modified to cut through the air and fly as fast as possible, while also being able to turn sharply. They are more manoeuvrable than the most advanced fighter jets and can withstand forces in excess of 12G.

In 2019, 14 pilots compete in the World Championship. They are highly experienced aviators coming from a range of piloting backgrounds. Master Class competitors accumulate World Championship points at each race. The pilot with the most points after the last race of the season is the Red Bull Air Race World Champion.

CHALLENGER CLASSIn 2014, the Challenger Cup was introduced to develop the unique skills required for the next generation of pilots for potential advancement to the Master Class. 12 pilots will compete in the Challenger Cup races in 2019.

WHO’S IN THE LEAD?

Pilots fly in reverse WC standings order and the result determines the R14 startlist on Race Day. Each pilot has two runs and the fastest time counts.

The winner of each heat in the Round of 14 advances to the Round of 8, as well as the Fastest Loser.

Pilots are reseeded based on Round of 14 timings. The winner of each heat advances to the Final 4.

Four pilots compete for victory, based on time. The fastest pilot will be the winner.

HOW A RACE IS WON OR LOST – WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR!

The Red Bull Air Race World Championship features aerial racetracks of air-filled pylons that demand a unique combination of speed, precision and skill. Using the fastest, most agile, high performance raceplanes, pilots compete against the clock with the goal to finish the course in the fastest possible time. Failure to fly the racetrack within the rules will result in penalty seconds or disqualification.
