Mission Statement: The members of the United Student Association (USA) are

committed to nurturing our community by fostering a comfortable and

supportive environment. We advocate for the needs and interests of the diverse

student body at South Seattle College. We strive to accomplish this commitment

by promoting and encouraging self-development, community involvement, and

culture sensitivity.

a. DACA:● Had meeting with the Program Manager of the Center of Equity, Inclusion

and Diversity Sol Mandez and came up with an Open Mic event “Your Fight ismy Fight” to address immigration issues:➢ Time: 1:30pm - 3:30pm on Wednesday, November 1st 2017.

b. Schedule for meeting with interim President Peter Lortz and Vice President ofStudent Services Rosie Rimando-Chareunsap● The meeting will be on November 18th or November 25th 2017 (TBD)

c. Breast Cancer awareness month and Domestic Violence awareness month

d. College Broad Meeting on Friday October 6, 2017 9:00 - 10:30

● President Angel Delker and VP Tam Mai will attend the meeting.

e. Reminder:● Timesheet● Re-due To Do list: Come up with an overall to do list for the whole team and

post it in the office. Officers have to make sure to communicate and supportother members.

2. Vice president: (5-7 mins)a. Voter Registration Drive:

● Calling and emailing the student to fix the form with red pen. The forms can onlybe filled by black and blue pens.

● Canvasing and tabling on campus● Updating "field tracker": Update with Washington Bus about the number of new

voter registration forms.● Checking the forms in AANAPISI and TRiO daily● Presentation for classes:➢ Sociology 9am with Angel, Thalia, Lucy ( Monday, October 2nd 2017)➢ American Government 8am class and 10:15am class with Angel, Lucy, and

Zoza ( Tuesday, October 3rd 2017)

● Importance: Mailing the forms in 3-5 business day.b. Mayor Seattle forum at South Seattle College: on Wednesday, October 25th 2017

from 9am to 10:30am● Contact Sophia (Washington Bus) for contact information● Researching for mayor information and their debate● To Do:

Public Relation officer Danny Le will create a draft flyer for the forum byMonday, October 9th 2017 and submit to advisor Monica Lundberg.

Contact with American Government class instructor Larry Cushnie toinvite guest speakers to the forum.

3. Sustainability Officer: (5-7mins)

a. Recycling/compost, nap stations research● Raise awareness of students about recycling on campus.● Long term goal: have a nap station - a quiet place for students to take a nap

between classes.

b. Reach out to western on sustainability projects● Western Washington University has high sustainability projects, and it is the

largest campus in U.S. to ban bottled water.● Officer will do research and make a move to practice reducing plastic bottles on

campus.

c. Arrange meeting with Christa Colouzis from Sustainability Committee● Attempt to invite her to USA meeting next week (Wednesday, Oct 11th) to talk

about sustainability projects on campus.

4. Public Relations Officer: (5-7 mins)a. USA Logo

● USA team voted on 2 logo designs.● Public Relations Officer Danny Le will continue to make

correction of the chosen logo as recommended by USA.

b. Request budget for marketing supplies● Check with Treasurer Domonique Gordon for budget.

5. Issues and Concerns Officer (Policy): (5-7 mins)a. Smoking signs and rules● Met with the Director, Safety/Security Administrative Services James Lewis and

would like to invite him to USA meeting to educate USA officers on smokingrules.

● Suggested to have bigger smoking signs and more smoking shelters on campus.b. Language: Using appropriate language in office area.c. Neutral restrooms● There are one neutral restrooms already built in AMT building.● Talked with the Program Manager of the Center of Equity, Inclusion and

Diversity Sol Mandez and had an idea of buiding more neutral restrooms oncampus.

6. Issues and Concerns Officer (Diversity): (5-7 mins)

a. Survey● Make sure to figure out what important to put in the surveys and do not

overwhelmed students with too much surveys.

b. Snapchat● Power Points for Snapchat will be sent to all USA members.● Suggested guideline to add friends on Snapchat to make sure it is not fake

accounts.

7. Treasurer: (5-7 mins)a. Timesheet: Due Friday noon before 15th and 30th of the month.

b. Budget: To be reported on next USA weekly meeting.● Budget Committee: try to have 3 USA members who pay S&A fee on the

committee.

8. Secretary: (5-7 mins)a. Mailing Information System once in every 2-week

● Signed up for a new MailChimp account● Reminded USA officers to start collecting students’ emails for the system when

tabling.

9. Advisor:a. Campus-wide committees:

1. USA will collaborate with the Center of International Education Programs (CIE) onHalloween event “Haunted House”. The detailed schedule will be discussed beforeFriday, October 6th 2017 and submit programming sheet for the event. We planned toschedule the event on Tuesday, October 31st 2017.● President Angel Delker and Issues & Concerns Officer (Policy) Zoza Batjargal will

lead in scheduling for the event.

2. USA will volunteer for PTK to promote Food Pantry.● Location: JMB Student Center, across from the Art Gallery, near the Bookstore.● Time: Monday 1-3pm and Thursday 2-4:30pm

3. DACA Committee meeting: Friday, October 13th 2017

4. Art Gallery Committee meeting: Sunday, October 15th 2017 at 3pm.
