Weather was great, just some dark clouds building in the afternoon. Just before getting home though I got a
thorough soaking on I40, enough to get all the dust off. It was a great day, something for our club to put on
next year's calendar?
(Editor’s Note: Thanks to Juergen Burmeister for submitting this Report and Pictures!)
On a beautiful Saturday morning, I headed for the 3rd annual Gunslinger car show in Holbrook. There were six cars
from other Flagstaff car clubs that gathered at the Mobil station on Country Club, so I joined them. Randy, in his 1950
Coupe de Ville & Bonnie joined us a bit later in Holbrook. There were about 100 cars on grass in the city park. All
the Gearheads (Holbrook club that sponsors the show) were very friendly and helpful and made it a great day. After
getting there someone came by and offered a free breakfast burrito. A bit later someone came around with Danish pas-
try and all that was followed by a free hamburger/hotdog lunch for all participants. Some beautiful cars were at the
show. I happen to wind up parked next to a red (what else?) 1990 Ferrari F348 from Casa Grande. I think I talked the
owner into attending our car show in September. There were three kinds of judging, (1) Gearheads cars were judged
separately by show participants, (2) all cars were judged by members of the Gearheads car club using a checklist, and
(3) all entrants voted on best of show cars in six different categories. Luckily I won both first places in the Gearheads
and the participants voting. Fortunately for me, the Ferrari was judged in a different class.
GUNSLINGER CAR SHOW July 13, 2013 — A Report by Juergen Burmeister
OOPS! The Courier made an error in the July edition regarding who participated in the Parks 4th of July Pa-
rade. Actually nine member cars were there: Juergen Burmeister (1999 BMW Z3); Bob & Maggie Bortree ( ‘86
Corvette); Lowell & Sallie Page ( ‘73 Mustang & ‘79 MGB); Lance McKee ( ‘70 Mercury Cougar); Randy Travis
& friend ( ‘64 Impala & ‘50 Cadilac); Jerry McGlothin & Donna Veihdeffer ( ‘34 Ford Coupe); and Mark &
Kathy Strango and daughters (‘71 Chevelle). Thanks to Lance for catching the error and providing the input.
