MEG AND MOG: “The Witches’ Spell Party”

NARRATORS“Meg” is a witch.She has a pet cat called “Mog”.And “Owl” is, well, an owl.It´s autumn. It´s the 31st of October.It is Halloween.

(scene 1: meg's bedroom)

OWL: coughs Tuwit, tuwoo. Wake up, Meg!

MEG: gets out of bed, stretches. What is it? What´s the matter?

OWL: It’s midnight, Meg. Time for the witches' spell party.

MEG: I´m so tired. (stretches). Now, let's see, I need my black stockings,

my big black shoes,my long black cloak

OWL: and your tall black hat. (puts hat on her head)

MEG: There! Ready.

Walks off … clomp clomp clompClose Curtain

NARRATORS: Every morning Meg always makes a delicious breakfast.And always uses the “best” ingredients.Shall we see what she makes today?.

(scene 2: stairs and kitchen)

Meg Walks down the stairs CLOMP CLOMP: pauses.

MEG: I’ll just cook some breakfast

Steps on Mog’s tailMOG: Aaaaaaghhhh!!! (whispers: You silly witch) Be careful!

MEG: Sorry, Mog, I didn’t see you …

MOG: changes expresion ...Did you say breakfast??

MEG: (chuckles) Yes, I need three eggs, (clap hands to servant)Servant 1: Shall I break the eggs? (servant breaks them into the pot)

MEG: some milk ...Servant 2: Shall I pour it into the pot? (pours milk into the pot)

MEG: some cocoa ...Servant 3: Shall I tip it into the pot? (tips cocoa into the pot)

MEG: some bread ...Servant 4: Shall I throw it into the pot? (throws bread into the pot)

MEG: some jam ...Servant 5: Shall I empty it into the pot? (empties jam into the pot)

MEG: and a kipper ...Servant 6: Shall drop it into the pot? (drops the kipper into the pot)

After each ingredient Mog and Owl say Mmmmm etc.

MEG: (mixes and dishes out the breakfast) Plenty for everyone. MOG and OWL starteating their breakfast

CLOCK: cuckoo cuckoo. It’s time for your party!

MOG: What time is it, clock?

CLOCK: It’s 1 o’clock, time to leave

MEG: Cauldron, Broom, Mog, Come on Mog. (Grabs the spider too)

OWL: Have a nice time!!

MEG, MOG (on broom flying off) Weeeeeeeeee. Here we go!!!

NARRATORS: Meg and Mog fly off into the night sky. Remember … it´s Halloween. Who do you think they will meet tonight?

(scene 3: Sky and Hill)

In Sky, flying to hill…. swaying to music.

MOG: (to Meg) What a lovely night. Hey who is that?!!

MEG:Ohhh Hello BessBESS: Hello Meg. Look, I've got a adj. Frog *FROG VOICE (offstage): (Scared) I don’t like this idea

MEG: Hello JessJESS: Hello Meg, hey, I've got a adj. Beetle *BEETLE VOICE (offstage): (Scared) Oh Dear!!

MEG: Hello TessTESS: Hello there Meg, and I've got a adj. Worm *WORM VOICE (offstage): (Scared) Oh, What´s happening?

MEG: Hello CressCRESS: Hello Meg and Mog, I've got a adj. Bat *…BAT VOICE (offstage): (Scared) This looks terrible.

ALL WITCHES: We're nearly there! Time for the party!!

HELPER: move cauldron up onto stage to represent landing

All stop flying and stand around cauldron. One step closer.

WITCHES (whispering): What’s gonna happen this year?

MEG: OK Girls. Time to throw those bugs into the Cauldron.

Witches: (step forward in turn and drop creatures into the Cauldron).BESS: Goodbye You adj. Frog etc.CRESS: Goodbye You adj. Worm etc.

EVERYONE ELSE: laughs wickedly as each creature falls

MEG: Silence please. (pause) Time for the Spell!!. (pause)

*NARRATORS: Would you like to help with the spell?(Words on card for audience)

ALL CAST:Frog in a bog Bat in a hat Snap Crackle Pop! And fancy that!WITCHES:ABRACADABRA

*Props for bang and smoke effect – e.g. ticker tape

EVERYONE: make explosion noise. Mice ON STAGE IN CENTRE, MEG and Mog Behind

Open Curtain

Mice take off hats and scurry around

MEG: Oh Dear! Something’s gone wrong!

Jess? Cress?, Tess? Bess?

The witches have all turned into Mice

MOG: (Grinning) Delicious!

MICE: *squeak squeak squeak, help, help, help me. Oh Dear! (in turn)

MEG ...it’s another one of my disasters (Head in Hands) I'll will change them back nextHalloween.
