Based on the blockbuster comic book series by Serge Bloch – with more than a million copies sold worldwide in over

SamSam appears to have it all: his own flying saucer and great family and friends. But the one thing he has yet to

attain are actual superpowers. When Mega – the new kid at school – tells SamSam she has the solution to all his

problems, he sees a short-cut to making his parents proud of him. Embarking on his greatest quest ever with Mega

by his side, he discovers that superpowers come in all shapes and sizes, including learning the true value of

friendship.

In an unconventional pairing, Cyrano de Bergerac meets a chicken farm in this exciting animal fable from young

filmmaker Mélanie Auffret. Idyllic Breton serves as the backdrop for this amusingly sincere film that observes the

economic realities of contemporary rural life.

Poultry farmer Raymond (Guillaume de Tonquédec) lives happily with his wife (Léa Drucker) and their three children.

While dedicated to producing the best eggs possible, Raymond harbours a passion for the stage, which he shares

with his hens – the secret audience for his rousing performances of Edmond Rostand's famous 1897 play, Cyrano de

Bergerac (the central subject of Edmond, also playing at this year’s festival).

After local Breton chicken farms suffer a devastating financial blow, Raymond comes up with a money-making

scheme so crazy it just might work: broadcasting his theatrics to audiences via Youtube, co-starring his favourite hen,

and star-in-the-making, Roxane.

As Raymond’s unorthodox actions gradually galvanize the community into action, Roxane emerges as a tale about

following one’s passions and taking a stand to fight for what you love.

Incredibly, it is also a story inspired by true events, which saw Christian Moullec ‘fly’ with his wild dwarf geese as they migrated during the early 2000s. In a bid to help an endangered species of geese, Christian wants to reintroduce a family of these birds back into the wild by accompanying them in a flying contraption as they travel north. As Christian and Thomas embark on this remarkable adventure, one which sweeps over the stunning landscapes of Camargue and Scandinavia, Spread Your Wings serves as a timely reminder to preserve a world fit for future generations to inherit.
