Newsletter SPRING 2019 Exciting new beginnings As many of you are aware, following a detailed procurement process last year, Southwark CCG awarded us with a new contract for Melbourne Grove, joining the surgery together with Hambleden Clinic. We are incredibly excited about the opportunity this presents in allowing us to provide high quality healthcare to all patients registered at both surgeries. For our first year, we will be working from both the existing Melbourne and Hambleden sites, and from July 2019 patients will be able to be seen at either site of their choice. From April 2020 we will be moving both practices into the new Dulwich Health Centre, which is going to be a wonderful purpose-built health centre, co-located with a number of community services. We hope that our practice teams will be able to work more closely with these other services in the building, such as GSTT and KCH outpatients, to allow us to provide more specialist and bespoke services to all out patients. This is a wonderful opportunity for all, but we are aware that many patients may have questions about the merger and the move to DHC, along with good ideas about how services might be shaped to suit their needs. As such, I have included information about how to join our Patient Participation Group within this newsletter. We will also be holding some drop-in sessions within the practice as an opportunity for any patients to chat to our team about the changes ahead, and we look forward to working with you all in these exciting times. Meettheteam:DrJonathanLove

Many of you will know me fromMelbourne Grove, where I haveworked as Clinical Lead GP since2014. This has been a period ofrealchangeingeneralpracticeandthe whole team and I are veryexcited about the opportunitiesahead with our move to DulwichHealthCentre. My role is varied across both theMelbourneGrove and Hambledensites, but also in assisting theSouthwark CCG and IHL GPFederation.I run specialist services at thepractice included a clinic forpatients with long-term pain, soplease enquire at reception if youwouldlikemoredetailsofthis.I believe strongly in helping ourmost vulnerable patients as apriority, and as suchwe have rundedicated schemes for homelesspatients, refugees, veterans, LGBTandBAMEgroups.I am enthusiastic and excited towelcome our Hambleden patientsand hope we can provideinnovative services for the needsofall.

The Melbourne Garden Project – a brush with royalty!

In February, Lambeth GP Food Co-op (http://lambeth.gpfoodcoop.org.uk) celebrated

their 6th Birthday. Our practice team was invited along to the birthday celebrations, in

recognition of the hard work of our own ‘social prescribing’ team, the Garden Project.

Dr Love (GP), Golam Morshed (manager) and the Melbourne Grove Gardening Team

were lucky enough to meet HRH The Duchess of Cornwall at this event, and we were

inspired to hear the work of other local social prescribing and voluntary opportunities.

If you would like more information about the Garden Project, or other local

volunteering opportunities or social prescribing, please see our practice website or

https://communitysouthwark.org/
